Re: pinning

In my opinion it doesn't really matter. Just as long as the mycelium has completely covered the growing area. Some say if you leave the cakes in the jars for a few days after you see the first few pins, the mushrooms will almost "rush" to grow and find nutrients. Whether or not thats true??? Who know:-)

Well my friend and his friend are growing for the first time and they started the inoculation at the same time, but my friend's friend birthed his a little later and pins had already formed in his jar while my friend birthed his with no pins.

My friend's friend is already done with his first mushrooms and is now growing his second flush, while my friend still hasn't harvested his.

If you can't understand because of all the friends crap, what i'm saying is in every instance i've heard about, letting the pins grow inside the jar (aka invitro), makes for much faster growing, although may stop as many pins that would have formed normally from forming.

Of course it is possible that other factors could have messed it up, temperature and humidity differences in the two different terrariums that my friends used.
