Dreams and Alternative Realities

Do u guys believe that dreams could be alternative realities? Or perhaps past lives we "relive" again in the dream world?

Or are dreams a trip to a spiritual dimension only?

My other theory is dreams are communications from spirits. Just dont know which of these is true....

Strange situation, all of this. "Culture" or "socially acceptable depression" hides it all and keeps it appearing the same day to day. We are socially designed to see a certain reality.

If you open the mind up, and don't give into insanity, the world is all sorts of realities from moment to moment.

So dreams, sure, especially the OBE type of dream, if it is a type of dream and not an invitation from a higher power, is certainly another level or type of reality. Another dimension, another life perhaps. I'd buy that.

This is a great topic and I don't have any answers specifically, just that I have gotten close to awakened and, it's very cool.

I'd say they are alternative reality. It's a reality with it's own "laws and rules" succinctly different than waking life. I get to have conversations with old friends or aquaintances that I haven't talked to in years - as the dream is ending, I feel like I really did talk to that person, and feel like it impacted me in some significant way that will still effect me in some subtle way moving forward in waking life.

I can't say if it's past lives because I'm always "me" within my dreams. I've never experienced being a pirate or someone living in ancient egypt or anything like that. That would be pretty great if I could.. there is a background of memories, identity and attitude in my dreams that specifically belong to me. Now that I think of it, is that unusual? I have no idea. Nobody talks to me about their dreams, even though I tell them I'm interested and like hearing about other people's dreams.

I think I agree about the spirits thing, although I prefer to label it as the unconscious. I've had conversations with dream beings that seemed to have an intelligence greater than my own, or felt like I was recieving knowledge from them. I've seen my past spirit and future spirit, in the eyes of dream beings - to see soul states, which you know can be seen when looking into a being's eyes.

everyone's brain is wired differently so i expect that we all have different forms and realities in our dream.

withholding that.

IME i believe that when your hemisphere is facing away from the sun its when we enter into the "unconscious", like we are in the shadow realm of our own existence it is another play on duality as the other side of the world grinds it out in the physical we dwell in the "spiritual" in the shadows of what is happening,

just thought about this now:shrug:

Since my retirement, I usually stay awake until 3 or 4:00 in the morning when a majority of people are sleeping. Yet I am becoming aware of the nocturnal animals, the possums, raccoons, rats, and even the cat who recently adopted me. My most intense thinking and creativity is between 3:00 PM and 3:00 AM - the time I mostly spent writing my doctoral dissertation in 1982-83 before I had to join the workaday world. So it seems that you are being a bit too literal, when what I perceive is symbolic material emerging from your words.

Human brains are really not "wired differently" except in statistically rare instances (not counting pathologies) such as people who do not have Corpus callosums connecting their hemispheres. Yet they seem to function just fine.  Phineas gage lived for years with an inch and a quarter diameter iron bar through and through his brain and skull! Brain and consciousness are intimately related in ways which remain a mystery. Surgical techniques and conceivably all manner of technological gains that can read thoughts (now just a sci-fi theme) may come to fruition, and we may still not understand the causal and non-causal relationships of mind to body (brain). We may come to see a quantum entanglement aspect to the mind-body problem that is usually attributed to theoretical physics, but if Jung and Wolfgang Pauli in their hypotheis were correct, mind is the flip-side of space-time and equally as substantial and pervasive of the universe as matter is. Then, just as we are all of the fabric of space-time, we will realize that we are all equally psyche. As the biblical author Paul said in Acts 17:28, quoting the earlier Greek poet Aratus about God (the Universal Mind), "...in him we live and move and have our being."
