Smallest Dimensions Possible and LED's

As an aspiring mushroom cultivator, I have two questions which I pose to you. First of all, I am stuck in a situation which I am sure others of you have encountered before, in which the people with whom I live do not commend my growing of mushrooms. I was wondering what the smallest possible dimensions are for a terrarium, and if anyone has any interesting inovations which would make my mycological experiments easier to conduct without interference.

Secondly, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using LED's of the proper wavelenth (approx 480nm?) to get them to fruit? This would be quite useful, as I would be able to make my terrarium essentially cordless.

Oh I see, he wants to grow mushrooms without the knowledge of the other residents.

Well maybe in your legal system, every resident gets arrested whether they knew about the drugs or not, but that is quite an unreasonable and blind thing for your authorities to do, and I don't think that's the case everywhere.

So:

1)The smallest terrarium I know is the one created from
the soda bottle
You can find a good explanation of this "tek" at

If you got space problem, this will fix 'em!

2)Any sort of light will be working, the Mushi need light
not for gathering from it energy, but just to let them know
that it's time for the myc to produce fruits :smile:
Just care that the light you'll be choosing don't create too
much heat: a low wattage will work well.

I have no moral or ethical problems with assisting someone with a an illegal grow but I do have an issue woth someone risking the freedom of another... thats the kind of person that gets arrested and because you sold him weed and then cuts a deal to save his own pathetic ass

aparently you would fall into the category as well as you are assisting someone in risking the lives, freedom, property and livelyhood of other that are innocent....

I believe that is safe to assume that when the 'others' in the house do not condone what is being grown it's a safe bet that it would be illegal, even if it's not it shows little respect for the other 'residents'.

do you know the difference between condone and commend, in my eyes its about 4 years, the difference between 14 and 18 years old, the amount of time that his parents are going to get for 'allowing' him to grow

Again back to respect. Regardless of legality it shows great disrespect to those he is living with and again, if it were Legal where he lives then why would his 'room mates' care what he does... unless he's a minor and possibly their child

The 'people' he live with have expressed that they would prefer he not grow in 'their' house, you on the other hand would like to show him that a disrespect is an admirable trait. If he were my room mate and showed that little respect for me after asking him not to, his shit would be on the curb that day.

ever heard of a noise ordinance, yes, that would make it illegal, your choice is quite poor, Peyote would have been better because the only country I am aware of that made illegal to grow or posess is the US

Aside from all that, he lives with people that dont wish him to grow, respect is a key word around here especialy when cultivation is concerned.

Well, I'd like to thank everyone for this brilliant lesson in ethics. By informing me of how I am disrespecting others, you have greatly changed my moral outlook on the entire idea of growing shrooms. Not only that, but you have made me rethink my entire moral philosophy of life, and I have decided to give up all wordly possesions and join a monastary.
Without the sarcasm, I guess this means that I am going into this with the full knowledge of what I am doing (by which I mean the act, not the process, thats why I'm here), what my moral precepts are, and how I should handle this situation. I simply asked for a bit of technical knowledge, which seems to flow so freely here, and all I seem to have recieved is a sermon. I hope that that is not what this great site has been reduced to.

im going to use some blue leds for my terranium. i know which ones im gonna get (when i get off my ass and actually do it) but i dont know about the wavelength of them. can someone send me a PM with some links of where i could get the proper type, thanks.
