you CAN actually grow plants with LED lights.  They are very efficient because you can select specific frequencies of light which are good for the chlorophyll.  I'm currently growing spinach, basil, and mixed greens all under a red/blue LED setup...

hawksapprentice obviously knows nothing about growing MJ. LED lights are beginning to be rather popular for growing pot. and work well with mushrooms. mushrooms wont require as much LED light as pot but will still work well.

I haven't used them yet, but if they'll grow weed, they'll definitely be good enough for mushrooms, especially if you can select the color temperature you want.  I like that they're much more efficient, from a power consumption standpoint.

not cheap but lasts 14 years if you are constantly doing a 12/12 light cycle. color temperature is 7500k  HERE is an example of something that would work

LED's are in those rope lights. have you seen the link on here? they have 7500K and 8500K LED rope lights. heres the link to that site.

wow, do you have to be such a douche? LED's are perfect at recreating natural UV light without actually having the harmful UV radiation. did you know NASA is using LED lights in space farms? and ive met quite a number of MJ growers using LED's. so next time, dont be a douche and do some research before you try to drop knowledge.
