Indoor, in ONE 10 gal Sterilite tub, from 6 1/2 pint cakes. I'll be recasing soon with hopes of a second flush..but I'm happy with what I've got!

An honor to have you comment on these shrooms! I had some that fell over, but oddly not the biggest ones. For some reason they tended to be mostly smallish and twisted which was quite a problem when harvesting! (Tangled)
I'll be sure to remark on them next week. You can see what they looked like while growing under the heading "Cambodia LOAF pics" or something of the like posted a day or two ago.

Do you mean psilly? LOAF is a term that I THINK I came up with. Like Friend Of A Friend (FOAF), only Lover-OAF, as these were not grown by me, but by a friends girlfriend. I would never grow mushrooms as they are not leagal in most places. They are also grown in bread loaf pans.

I'm going to try an experiment with these casings:

I'm going to take more casing soil and wet some with 50/50 water and h202 and some with 100% h202 and use this to recase these pans. My theory is that the h202 should kill any green meanies in the upper layer of old casing soil without doing TOO much harm to the mass of the mycelium, which will then grow out again and into the new layer.
By the time the mycelium recovers and wants to grow out again the h202 will have broken down and things SHOULD be nice and clean. I'll try 6 pans each way.

P.s. Its about a Z dry so far, by a crude scale. I'm guessing its a little more.

What was your casing made of? And what where they in?

Also, when you begin to start a new flush, are you just going to add more moist casing mix, or are you going to do it some other way.

So, Just one 1/2, half pint cake per pan eh? I tried SOS in a solo cup, and they didn't do too well. I couldn't image you getting a 1 inch layer of colonized substrate with only 1/2 of a 1/2 pint cake in that bread pan..... but very nice harvest.

I pretty much just broke up the cake until it covered the layer of vermiculite on the bottom. I'd guess it was more like 1/2 inch deep. Seemed to work however.

In short I mostly used the SOS Tek, perlite for humidity and birdseed cakes.
