Help me get a ritalin script

I'm 18, and I would have to get the script by myself as my parents did not want me to be treated for ADD/ADHD although I feel that I have it. I have their insurance though, does that mean that I have to pay full price?

I have taken ritalin a few times from friends and it helps me study/concentrate in school, so what do I have to do to get it prescribed.

Just go to any doctor, a psychiatrist? tell them I can't focus in school, don't mention that i've ever tried anything, just say I am looking for a solution to this problem?

Im sure you can use their insurance, usually what happens at a docs office is between the patient and doctor. On a side note, it may be hard to get a prescription of what you really want, you may have to go a few times and keep switching meds. IMO it would deff be a waste of money, as my insurance only covers part of doc visits. I have a bent up spine and when I was younger I tried getting pain killers, which resulted in a script for something I could buy in walmart, and no pain killers. I gave up, and smoked illegal weed for 8-9 years after that and im a-okay for the most part. Actually glad I did not get the script and get hooked on big-pharma shit.

LSD is what $7-8 for 100-120ug? That's around 6 micro doses if you're trying to minimize intoxicating effects ($1.25 a day, $37.5 a month)

I've never tried daily microdosing and ideally never will, so I can't speak for the efficacy of this concept

Usually a microdose for me is around 50-60ug (where you're clearly intoxicated but its easily managed), with the purpose of practicing an instrument, never more than a dozen times in a month.

So like I come from a family full of "ADD" And "ADHD" and more than half of us have gotten scripts. We're all a bit absent minded and attention shifty. Taking that shit daily is not a good idea. What is a good idea is learning how to manage it on your own and possibly realizing that college isnt for you. And that's perfectly okay. Me and my brothers are all making good money in our own trades.

Oh but no you're 18 you shouldn't need your parents. Just one of the insurance cards and a cash co-pay

Are you sure you have ADD to the degree that warrants ritalin use?

Ritalin longterm impairs your thinking and ability to experience pleasure, just like chronic meth use.

Whoa dude, chill out a second. That's one of those things they tell everyone not to go to college for. Red flags man.

What do you want to do in college? You're going to be among the dropouts if you have no genuine motivation to complete it.

I'm gonna tell you now that if you're only doing it for your parents and you have bad attention span then you aren't going to graduate. Or you will with the help of alot of drugs and likely be miserable thru most of it.

If you feel like you absolutely have to enroll in college (or already have) just take the classes that interest you the most or you think will help you the most. Then after a year or 2 convince your parents to let you go to trade school instead. 1 or 2 years vs 6 and all your education will revolve around the trade. None of the extra bullshit that's likely to drive you crazy in college.

Nowadays it's pretty hard to get a prescription for ritalin or adderall, since they've become such popular street drugs, and most doctors are reluctant to prescribe it if you haven't been officially tested for ADHD (usually a long test involving written and oral questions, which you need to fail in order to get the Golden Ticket).  A friend of mine hooks me up with adderal XR and IR which he got prescribed after jumping through lots of hoops in order to get diagnosed with ADHD...it was only after he got the official diagnosis that he was able to get a prescription from his doctor

I just wanted to clarify, when I said this:

It was in reference to the distant past, I don't recommend taking LSD nearly that often, if you're trying to self-medicate it would be wise to consider how serious the issue you're medicating really is, because frequent tripping can easily fuck with your head. Same for any drug, especially something as strong as speed.

I actually really wanted to go to college. I love learning. I love learning a little bit of everything and anything. I had to drop out because the pace and the system drove me nuts and triggered the PTSD type bullshit I have from primary school (I struggled really hard as a kid, was bullied alot, ect.)

And the fact I had to drop out for my own mental well being after nearly 7 years just depressed me even more.


Degrees don't even mean all that much anymore. I'm working with quite a few degree holders and I'm making more than some of them. I know there's so much pressure to go to college at your age but trust me there are better ways.

I didn't think I was going to be able to afford college so I got a shit load of business administration oriented certifications (tech and finance mostly) while I was still in high school. That and a tiny bit of job experience (and a bit of truth bending) set me up to be making decent money at an insurance company. People want papers with a name they like, it really doesn't matter all that much how you get them. Social networking and experience can get you farther than alot of degrees too.


Right now I'm on a geolocation team for the company. I'm hoping with enough experience I can move onto geomapping for environmental or conservation purposes. That's what I went to school for, ecology. If I did have that degree my path would likely not have been all that different. Narrow fields like that almost require experience and in some cases experience trumps school.


I'm rambling. But yeah, don't let others convince you the only way to get a decent job, and one you might like, is through school.
