Sugar Cane

One of my childhood memories was walking through my grandpas sugarcane field and being able to cut down as many as I liked. Of course I only took a few to eat, and a few to swordfight with my bro, but thats not the point of this thread. I was wondering if you can buy sugar cane seeds? Ive never seen them anywhere. If yall have never tried them, its a great treat, sugar in its natural form.. You peel the stalks and cut the matirial up into cubes, then you chew them to get the oh so sweet juice out, and spit the plant material out, or swallow because it wont kill you, but its not recomended. I want to grow a few stalks in my garden this year just for old times sakes and was wondering if anyone has ever grown sugar cane on a small scale that could offer me adive??

Can your climate support a plant like that? Also, you can buy sugarcane in cans. They're cut up into 7 inches long and there will be like 8 canes in each can. Ever had those? Thats the only thing I've ever had, they're pretty good, but I bet it nothing like a fresh one.

When I lived in hawaii, my next door neighbor grew it in his backyard. During the summer we'd hack it up with a machete and run about gnawing our teeth into nubs on the stuff. Great fun, I think it's easy to grow.
