the way you dress should be a conscious part of your act even if you don't draw attention to it
dressing like Larry the cable guy probably wouldn't work if you are trying to be political
you are putting on a performance the way you LOOK, MOVE, and SPEAK all add to your character

Definitely.

Everything has to match, or it doesnt make sense. A good example is Natasha Leggero. She puts on a old timey 1920s outfit with a demenor and style of talking that reflects it as well.
