My freeway schadenfreude * 1

Do you experience schadenfreude? If so, how so?

On the freeway, I feel significant irritation towards aggressive drivers. When an aggressive driver
frantically changes lanes (as if they're on an Olympic slalom course) and tailgates others 6 feet off
their bumper, I often speed up in order to stay close to them, so I can experience a thrill due to
their strong agitation when they are thwarted by heavy traffic. I giggle with glee as they slam on
their brakes, as they make rapid fire lane changes in a panic. If, at some point, I pass them, it's
an orgasmic moment for me, and I thank the Lord for his blessings.

Also, any thoughts about the psychology of aggressive drivers?

Millions celebrate Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's divorce.

Schadenfreude is common, if we are able to be honest and admit it.

Who hasn't jumped for joy when a particular coworker is fired?!

(PS - I actually don't have orgasms while I'm driving)

I keep a very safe distance.

At least 10-20 car lengths.

But close enough to enjoy the drama.

My highway driving mindset is a whole video game chaos system.
I am basically fear in a tin can rolling on paved strips with lunatics piloting suicidal ordinance all around and both moving and stationary death obstacles everywhere. (I never drive stoned)

I can totally tell what other drivers are going to do next (I frequently call it out several seconds in advance to my passengers who are invariably belted in and white knuckled.)

I drive defensively (not necessarily slowly) either in the slow lane or the fastest lane, I hate the middle lanes due to both sides being subject to encroachments. Huge trucks are video game obstacles to which you can easily lose a life or more.

occasionally on a 9 or more lane road I have to pull off after 5 miles or so, and just breathe since sustained 75 mph or 125kph with lots of obstacles makes me nauseous eg. rush hour with heavy volume and full speed.

long straight roads with deep valleys and hills, bright sun light and fluffy clouds also make me sick when driving, too distracting.

I do best in the rain, at night or in snowstorms when other drivers become more timid and uncertain.

Inner city I am excellent. Calm and courteous. can park with 2 inches both ends, hyper aware.

that's me

fear and horsepower.

im more your absent minded liability. i am a very competent driver. so competent in fact that sometimes i stop paying attention and then i almost die.

i usually go in the safe lane and dont rush.. unless im in a rush. which is sometimes, because i am often running late because i am often disorganised.. i mean i dont really do any dangerous things, maybe just changing lanes? or running an orange light?.. but i do sometimes do dumb things.

the best thing i have learnt tho is to not panic and just kind of stop or slow down if in doubt.

i dont get overly worked up over shitty drivers, just kind of a resigned disappointment.

I cannot say in honesty that I don't do what OP says. I have had tailgating dickheads go to pass me on an open stretch and I floor it. Or lane change way ahead of said dickhead so I can cruise along side someone else and block advancement. I don't necessarily do this out of spite, but that is an ingredient. It is also based on sophomoric entertainment.
