Before you judge a book by its cover...
No, I am not Muslim. However, I believe in the oneness of God and Love itself. In other words, I believe in the Sufi/Islamic doctrine of Tawhid. I feel as though I know from direct mystical experience that Allah (or, in our culture, God) is the One behind the many, unity disguised as multiplicity, endless, beginning nowhere, ending nowhere, everyone, within all creation, inseparable, gushing in all directions, Eternal, Infinite.
I feel the need to make the characteristically unknown known, for whatever reason. My gut tells me that I need to reverse-problem-solve the misconception of Allah, Brahman, God, Jah, Tao, Multiverse, Macrocosm, Egolessness, Truth, etc. which is Universal. A sea without a shore. Moreover, those who kill others in the name of the Nameless are unconscious of the fact that they're killing themselves in return, re-furthering their, which is our, wheel of karma since we're nothing more than One-synchronistic-Breath, an ever-extending-perennial-reflection of God-self-such-ness.
From the depths of Nothingness, Śūnyatā, to the seat of faith, Sahasrāra, vision travels more than a few millennia. Thousands of light-years of knowledge, unfold. We are not separate from the world's soul. Think, butterfly effect. Quantum physics tells us that @ the microscopic, subatomic level, energy is indivisible. Here, spirituality & science coincides, merges, coalesces, synchronizes and unites like space and time.
Everything is nothing less than a state of interconnected Divinity, look within you Heart. Egolessness is Nirvana. We all derive from the same source of Light. Love is a universal source, found all throughout creation, a fountain, a function of Life, love is air is breath. Pineal strands of primordial oneness. Silence is the language of Him. Love is a time machine of chakras. Life is a song. Intertwined with the nervous system of Love. God is the infinite creative power, flowing harmoniously throughout the Great Chain of Being. A Reality beyond thought, in spaceless timelessness. Love has no limit.
Wherever you go, It's All You. Meeting yourself time and time again, a different mask. Different Shakespearean play. Different this. Different that. "As one not knowing that a golden treasure lies buried beneath his feet, may walk over it again and again, yet never find it, so all beings live every moment in the city of Brahman, yet never find him, because of the veil of illusion by which he is concealed." (The Upanishads)
You are within the heart of creation, the innermost essence of existence. All in One, One in All. Source comes from one consciousness. Rivers of "I" springing from, & out, the Void into the womb of Never-ending manifestations. God's play. Whatever imaginable = fathomable and hence the unfathomable can be physically manifested from the unmanifest-metaphysical into doorways of Infinite metaperception of Love. Existence is a magnet of amnesia. "O Jesus, he asked Us for an atom's weight of Our love, but We knew he was too weak for that. So We granted him a seventieth part of an atom, and with that, he is awestruck. What would his condition have been had We granted him more?" (The Principles of Sufism)
There is no existence except Allah. "All individualized manifestation is pervaded by the same Reality. God fell in love in order to be known. Inner wholeness requires each of us to make space for the generous manifestation of loving compassion. Human suffering serves the purpose of wholeness as well. The one who remembers Allah is constantly in a connected flow of the divine power. Allah is manifesting every moment. There is one single cause. The job of the heart is to make the infinite finite. Every single atom of the universe is saying Alhamdulillah in its own way. Allah is the first Name of love. It is God who dreams us and we who dream God. Dark matter is the basic ingredient from which creation can take place. In this place, we can create. Unity alone exists." (Physicians of the Heart)

Prepare for some opposition in The Pub. For many, the American mainstream media have the final word on islam.
Just be you and stand for what you believe in. Its a beautiful, brave and well placed tattoo.

The Shroomery used to be more about giving support to those that are different, rather than putting them down.
We are all unique in our own unique ways but the ecumenical feeling of that we are all one, Shroomerites, with appreciation of differences has faded a bit.
"Come as you are" has become "better hide your peculiarities or we'll roast you."

OP, what exact verse do you have tattooed?
i love this quote "As one not knowing that a golden treasure lies buried beneath his feet, may walk over it again and again, yet never find it, so all beings live every moment in the city of Brahman, yet never find him, because of the veil of illusion by which he is concealed."
-------------------- Something there is mysteriously formed, Existing before Heaven and Earth, Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging, All-pervading, unfailing, I do not know its name; I call it tao. If forced to give it a name, I call it Great (ta). Being great, it flows out; Flowing out means far-reaching; Being far-reaching, it is said to return. It's just a shot away..

What you say about me, says more about the way you feel about yourself, at least in relation to tattoos.
I'm not offended.
But, since when was cross-cultural bridge-building basic? I mean, what you verbalize implies that kindergartners (c/w)ould understand God's omnipresence, omniscience, & omnipotence. I mean, they could. But... if you fail to, what does that say about yourself?
I see my tattoo of Allah as an essential, Arabic reminder of the fact that, God is everywhere. I am within everyone. The One without a second.
Also, how can you judge both of my tattoos (with that plural 's') inside the absence of information? ...Exactly... you can't. You're making assumptions, on the basis of subjective impressions, without evidence.
My other tattoo is a quote, written on the other side of my chest.
"I looked in temples, churches, and mosques. But I found the Divine within my heart. - Rumi
