:facepalm: Why can't you just be enchanted by Elephants in their natural state?  They're noble and proud beasts, but not painters and not meant to be pets.  If you really loved them you would not want to see them made into slaves for the enjoyment of tourists who care more about getting a viral selfie than the well-being of another living thing.

Why is it hard for you to understand that the component of suffering in your post is far more disgusting to us than their "paintings" are "enchanting"? Dude, I understand that the elephant is suffering. I GET IT. That's completely irrelevant to what the threat is about, which is the capacity of elephants to learn, which is a demonstration of their intellect.

If anything, as topdog said, the video is a demonstration of WHY elephants SHOULDN'T be abused, PRECISELY because they're able to do the things we can only get a glimpse of as a product of their abuse.

I don't know why you think we don't get it either though. We have already demonstrated our understanding of elephant intelligence, and eschewed the need for torturous circus tricks as evidence for it.

It's amazing that you come in and say that we're typical of the internet when you are here offering a manipulative clickbait viral video as evidence of the majesty of elephants, and completely denying the reality behind these images.

Go watch a docuimentary on elephants.  They're plenty amazing without being forced into cheap kitsch performances like this.

I saw a video of a guy getting jerked off by a 'phant before.  I think it was actually on HBO "Real Sex" when I was a kid but it could have been somewhere else.

Also they can and have been trained to kill people in horrible ways.  That doesn't make them murderers, like being bullied into preforming a doodle doesn't make them painters.

What you're saying is the equivalent of:

"Yeah, we all know that child pornography is horrible and that it destroys children's lives, but I'm making a point that this particular girl was able to learn excellent technique at such a young age."

The video itself is part of the reason for the victimization.  You are a part of the abuse system by posting it for people to admire.

In the case of the 1p thread though, I really don't see it. I feel like it just kind of snowballed out of control with one guy theorizing how I might be an asshole in that situation, and other people being like "oh yeah, there's an alternative perspective I can grab ahold of rather than just taking the OP at face value". counter culture people are like that
