33 year old woman falls off cruise ship

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/coast-guard-searching-for-woman-who-fell-overboard-off-carnival-cruise-ship/ar-BBt30OC?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=iehp

Quote:
The U.S. Coast Guard is searching the Gulf of Mexico for a woman who fell off the Carnival Liberty cruise ship early Friday morning.

Carnival officials told KHOU Houston that video footage shows 33-year-old Samantha Broberg falling overboard at around 2 a.m. on Friday. The Liberty departed from Galveston, Texas, on Thursday for a four day cruise to Mexico.

A statement from Carnival reveals that a "ship-wide search was conducted along with a review of the ship's camera footage," according to KHOU. "Unfortunately, it appears the guest may have gone overboard early this morning."

Broberg's fellow passengers reported that the ship-wide search was "very thorough."

"Our steward came into our room, checked the closets, checked the bathroom, looked under the bed, looked out on our balcony," passenger Jo Trizila told NBC DFW. "We knew it wasn't going to end well when the last few updates, the announcer said, 'Would you please just keep this family in your thoughts and prayers?' "
The Coast Guard released a statement Friday saying they are searching for Broberg 195 miles off the coast of Galveston, according to KPRC2 Houston.

"Watchstanders with the 8th Coast Guard District command center received a call from the master of the Carnival Liberty stating that they had a video of a woman falling overboard around 2 a.m. and that they conducted an accountable search for all passengers. Broberg was found to be missing," the statement reads. "The watchstanders directed the launch of Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew to conduct a search for Broberg."

Could you imagine? Falling off a cruise ship at 2 AM and into the vastness of the ocean 200 miles away from land?

If she's still alive, she's been out there for roughly 14 hours now.

Seems like there's pretty much zero chance she's still alive.

There isn't much to say. What a bad way to go. She was probably drunk.

Yeah it would seem pretty unlikely.

This is some, probably American chick on a cruise ship. She isn't surviving this. If she does, she is amazing

As far as ways to go rank drowning is one of the easier methods. The final moments are always reported as a calming sensation of letting go and drifting out of consciousness. Id definitely prefer it over a heart attack or a car crash.

I saw it on Yahoo news and most of the comments were all saying the same thing. It's practically impossible to accidentally fall off a cruise ship. I've never been on one so I couldn't say but everyone seemed to agree the railings are extraordinarily high and there is netting meant to catch you if you do somehow.

 The comments split from there to either she was doing something stupid while trying to take a selfie or it was suicide.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way.
I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today.
Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear.
I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear.

You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being
With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

drowning seems like a good way to go out compared to other ways a person might die.

Damn she died so young. Same age as Jesus. Maybe she was the reincarnation of Jah Rastafari... Maybe she'll come back to life in three days. :tongue2:

yeah if you hold your breath till you pass out you'll be fine, as in it wont be painful,. but like most people that have experienced that, i have although i got thrown back up by a wave as it happened so it didnt last long. but heres what i remember, i held my breath as long as i could after i got pulled under by a wave in california, and then when i couldnt hold it anymore i panicked and tried breathing, i dont know why. but it was extremely painful and the feeling of having to hold your breath till you die and not be a ble to scream or anything is horrible..

If people wanna kill themselves, why do they try and drown? Seems like a lot of unnecessary suffering when you could just OD on a ton of downers and barely feel anything if you do it right.

Because not everybody has access to a ton of downers.

If you HAD to kill yourself right now -like the second you read this - what options would you have?
