PH.D. In Chemistry
    #23106971 -

I Love Psychedellics

Especially Molly and LSD

But I never no what I get or who made it

I would like to pursue a career in chemistry

I have the funds to pay for all the classes

I just ordered a bunch of books by Alexander shulgin

If I had a Ph.D. In chemistry I could perfect the art of making

These substances and make them myself instead of getting them from an unknown source

I'm young and ambitious and have plenty of time to make this a reality

Is there even a point to this post? If you wish to pursue a degree in chemistry then that is wonderful! But I am not entirely sure what you wanted when you made this post. Encouragement? Help? Etc.?

Psychedelics i want to take: Mushrooms, Salvia (weak), Salvia (strong), Cannabis, LSA, Cactus, LSD, DMT, Bufotenine, 5-meo-DMT, 4-aco-DMT, Bufocin (theoretical as of now),  and a long long time from now, Datura (deliriant).

Although it'll take more than just a passing feeling of inspiration to get to that level of expertise.

You'd have to spend a LOT of time and effort on this, and you'd definitely have to have an interest in other aspects of chemistry to keep going at it, you can't just jump straight to the 'making drugs' bit, a lot of fundamental knowledge is needed.

It's something I've considered myself but I know I lack the self motivation to dedicate that much time to something.
Do you?

It will all come down to whether you still want to pursue a Ph.D after 6 years in uni. It's a HUGE task and a way of life that has little to do with getting wasted.

Do a degree and then your masters, then see if you're even slightly interested in flushing all that hard work away.

Likely you'd have the technical skills long before having a theoretical doctorate, anyway.

it would be way less effort to just find good sources and stock up if then going through all that trouble of studying chemistry and setting up a lab equipment. now if you have a true love for chemistry that is one thing, but if you just want good drugs for personal use then learn how to source.

I myself am in a PhD chemistry program and I can tell you that its gonna take way more work to get here than just a desire to make drugs.

With that much passion in chemistry ill be suprised if you pass a university's general chemistry sequence which teaches you nothing about making drugs. If anything you should love math more than anything but i guess you cant make drugs with math (not yet!)

Just trying to make a point that you dont need a phd in chemistry to synthesize drugs. If you can follow directions, and have the proper supplies, anyone can do it.

Considering I could get raw LSD crystal and huge quantities of MDMA moon rocks, pretty sure I could get the precursors too. Just some things to think about.

OP, all you need is organic chemistry classes, 3 or 4 levels should be all you need. If your dream is to synthesize well-known recreational drugs underground, then getting the chemistry knowledge is the least of your concerns. The hard part is getting sources for the precursors and reagents, while staying under the radar. Also finding a place to do it that won't get you busted, nor put your life in danger from explosions (which can happen with MDMA synth for example). You don't need a PhD at all, trust me.

What?

In undergrad he had just started taking LSD/MDMA/etc. He was a chemistry major primarily because he wanted to be able to synthesize drugs including LSD. In undergrad you have no idea what it's like to actually have a profession in that field.

Now that he is almost done with his PhD, which has something to do with using lasers and nothing to do with drugs, and he has the ability to buy LSD easily online, he has no interest in putting himself at risk of going to prison by getting involved with the criminal elements he would have to associate with in order to try to synthesize LSD, and he also thinks his actual field of research, having to do with lasers, is boring and probably not very marketable, and he wishes he'd studied something else.

That isn't really what he meant....he was saying since your friend doesn't even like chemistry how did he get as far as to finishing his PhD. For someone who discovers they don't like chemistry they wouldn't have gotten that far. Hell even people who do like chemistry don't get that far.

I'm a biochemistry major, and my interest in drugs formed a large part ( though not all) of my motivation to study that subject.

That said, you wouldn't need to get a PH.D to make shulgin chems you would just need a bit of experience with lab technique and theory. You could probably do it without even getting your bachelors. You just have to be able to follow directions closely. Oh yeah, and the money to obtain precursors, reagents and lab ware. And a place to cook.

You need like 20k for a good LSD manufacturing setup, labware and property included... or so I've heard .

As you said, synthesizing chemicals is only a process of following directions and monitoring reactions closely.

OP, don't get a PhD in chemistry if you only want to synth drugs, you could take the 100k+ in educational costs and set up your own breaking bad style lab. It would be an inappropriate allocation of resources to meet your end goal.

If you want to start with something easy I've heard GHB :cough: is really easy to synthesize and all the precursors are unwatched.

It doesn't cost 100k to get a bachelor's at a public university. I got my associates out of the way at community college for a grand total of about $4800, and finished up the last two years at a public university for about 22k- which is expensive, but far from 100k.

And you don't pay to get a PhD in Chemistry. If you get accepted, you get paid to get a PhD in Chemistry- with the assumption, of course, that you'll teach a help teach classes and labs in the beginning. But after the first couple of years, most doctoral candidates don't even do that, they're just getting paid to work on their research. That is difference between hard science doctorates and the rest.

The time requirement of getting a PhD would outweigh the benefit of learning how to synthesize chemicals, opportunity cost is "the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen."

While OP would take his sweet ass five+ years to get a PhD he could already be cranking out extremely high purity psychedelics by the kilo.

Theres no way youre going to get a ph D in chemistry.

Youre a drug user who imagines the life of a chemist as a cool thing.

But its not. I know and have met several real chemists. Theyre generally average boring people with boring chem jobs.

Chemistry classes are difficult, boring and tedious, they make most people feel really stupid. Even the entry level chem classes in college are a serious pain in the ass.

I knew a handful of people in first year college who were just like you. They all never finished their chem degree. They just threw it in the trash actually and grew out of drugs anyway.

It's not impossible man. The guy I know who is getting his PhD in Chem went through a vial of LSD with me in under a month and smoked 2 grams of high quality bud and went through every day of his undergraduate career. He didn't get amazing grades, but he passed well enough to get accepted into a doctoral program. He doesn't smoke anymore, but he still trips. He also hates the fact that he is locked into studying chemistry, though, and very much wishes he could go back in time and study something else.

A lot of it just boils down to native intelligence and the drive to succeed. If you dont have one or both of those, it doesn't matter whether or not you do drugs, you're not going to get anywhere. My cousin become a full fledgedMD with a regular cocaine/MDMA/weed habit.

People think I'm smart because I have 3+ years of chemistry (general, organic, quantitative, physical, and biochem) under my belt. I wish. I'm just obsessive and persistent. It is very tedious, almost all boils down to math, but I'm staying the course because I have a natural aptitude for it, I'm good at math, and I truly do enjoy the theoretical aspects and the possibilities.

BTW, I used to have pipe dreams of my own lab setup too, but I hate to tell you, passing chemistry classes doesn't do shit for that. Labs are expensive as shit.
