pH Test Strips
    #7230141 -

Trying this again...

Does anyone know where I might be able to find pH test strips? I am cultivating kombucha and want to check the pH balance of the brew before I drink it up.

It's been brewing for about a week now. Any suggestions?

Made this post in OTD, didn't get such great results, so hoping for better ones here.

I'm pretty sure I saw them in the Wal-Mart pet department.

If you can't find them locally, you could order them online.

Hi.

OTD is good for poop and dick jokes. That's about it.

As for PH testing, I have this little PH-probe-meter thing I bought at Home Depot for gardening. ...I honestly don't know how well it would work in liquid, but it might work.

Just a thought.

MycoSupply is a Shroomery sponsor. They have pH meters and strips.

Buy from them and help support the Shroomery.

"nature provides us with pH indicators in the form of plant pigments which change color over different pH ranges. One of the very best is red cabbage. Red cabbage juice will function over a wide pH range, from as low as pH 1 up to pH 13"

"To prepare the indicator, shred some red cabbage leaves, place them in small volume of water (1/2 cup) in the pot, bring the pot to a boil on the stove, and boil for 5-10 minutes (Note - You should wear some form of eye protection and use pot holders when handling boiling solutions). Pour the water with the boiled leaves through the coffee filter to remove the pieces of cabbage, collect the filtered juice in a clean glass, and let it cool; it should appear purple. You can then pour the juice into the eyedropper bottles for use and storage. This filtered juice is your pH indicator. Note that the concentration of the indicator solution depends upon the amount of cabbage and the volume of water used; the more cabbage in the smallest possible volume of water will yield a high concentration of indicator molecules."
