Likelihood of getting caught with the darknet?
    #23037295 -

assuming that I am not being sent thousands of dollars of say heroin etc., what is the likelihood that I will be searched or in a sketchy legal position for being mailed drugs?

i have a private mailbox that I have been sent books and textbooks and sweaters basically a whole bunch of legit personal stuff over about 1 year now. If I order small personal amounts of drugs, how likely is it to be intercepted?

I mean i figure if it were so easy, the mexican cartel would not longer try and smuggle at all. They would simply mail their packages exclusively. They wouldn't be using elaborate drug submarines? I guess the issue is they are working with sending millions of dollars of drugs. Like kilo's of coke and heroin etc.

I mean the worst case scenario just seems to be that I get a note in the mail that says "your package was siezed" and then I don't pick it up. and then life goes on as usual. If that happened, would I be on a "watched" list?

if its small amounts and you try and make sure you choose reputable buyers... you're safe. More risk for out of country ofc.

99% of websites know when you're using TOR or another proxy, I'm sure USPS/fedex is a part of that 99%.

Wouldn't that make it crazy suspicious that you're checking your package anonymously?

Id say track it on public WiFi

Lol I may just not track it at all. I could maybe track it at my local starbucks or something

and lol would that go well with police "Hey this package of lots of high quality drugs just showed up at my private mailbox and just has my name on it"

I mean I have no criminal record and I have sent only legal stuff to this box. So I am not sure it would be an issue. I am just wondering wtf is implied to have happened if they can't have clear evidence it was me

I mean, if its a sting from the start - it's a sting - it doesn't matter if you track it or anything. They would meet you at the shipping address. Otherwise they'd have no idea there's drugs in it so no risk practically

Use a prepaid card, and don't track it. Use a fake name as well

They can't pin shit on you. Anybody could send you anything, doesn't mean you're guilty. If I picked an address and sent that person coke, the likelihood of that person getting arrested is slim to none

I would also let it sit in your mailbox for some time before getting it, and watching closely to see if any suspicious cars are around. Destroy the package as soon as you open it, and hide the drugs for a day or so just to be super safe. If they're gona bust you, they'll need a search warrant. Be ready to flush that shit if you hear/see anything within the first couple weeks

You should be fine. Go for it

and how often does this happen?  I mean am I a criminal because a package of drugs showed up at my mailbox with my name on it?

Anyone who met me wouldn't ever guess I am into drugs. I look like a dork, dress semi-formal 24/7 and have no drugs in my possession (I have it outside my dorm room)

wait wouldn't using a fake name just make it more sketch? "Jeff brown" going to "david wincester"'s mailbox would only get more attention right?

You'd never use a card - it's all done via bitcoins, you can use a bitcoin tumbler to further obfuscate your payment but you're already pretty good with the default bitcoin system.

I'm not 100% sure how the postal system works with names, but I've had stuff shipped to my house under relatives names and never had an issue receiving it. I think as long as its the correct address they don't care whos name is on it, at least in the US. Look it up

Well, as far as I know, it almost never happens to casual users, as long as you're ordering say under 1000$ of drugs you're probably good  It takes a lot of jumping through hoops to do darknet drug busts, and considering the sophistication of most local police cyber teams it's not a frequently chosen route of investigation. The FBI may work in that realm but they would consider the users to be unworthy of their time and are likely only interested in the larger dealers.

that would make sense. I figure it would draw more attention to the package but I guess not

@twighead: I was just going to say that too. I use a bitcoin, not a prepaid card. Regardless, I may not end up even being the one buying it. It could be my buddy buying it and sending it to my private mailbox so that we can both enjoy the drugz

see thats what I guessed. I think the only people who have to worry much are mexican cartels and big drug lords

ALSO if they want you to sign for it, don't do it. If they want you to pick it up, don't do it.

Make sure seller is shipping with no sig required.

They will bust you as soon as your sign/ pick it up most likely. Most delivery people are lazy and won't bother to make you sign if the names don't match. Up to you. You could even just misspell your name to make it a bit more legit.

If your name is John Doe, put John Roe instead, or w/e

Take every precaution

Few years back some good friends where doing fairly well buying on the darknet for over a year Then got busted. I would say because it was a total different product and not the same vendor. So I would say its still safe if you can find a true dark vendor. Lucky they only got a few months jail and probation. they imported out of country too. tssk...tssk

Also yes real name is a must, Po box is smart, but they did these things also.

I'd say your good and whatever charge for the small amount of drugs may not be so bad. Although they are getting pretty tough on the fact that you orderedthem/and shipped them in mail. I've heard of officers seizing a package, getting a warrant, rigging an electrical device inside the package closing it up and having an officer deliver the package to the guy by hand dresssrd up as a postal service guy. So the warrant only becomes active if the guy sets off the device by opening the package. It was a rather large package though, like a few pounds of weed.

How'd they get busted? The cops would have to catch them in the act WITH drugs. I doubt they got arrested for just having them sit in the mailbox

If they were picking them up from a mail center then yeah, that's just fucking stupid. Private residence no way

I also would never answer the door to receive the package. As i said, let it sit and watch for a at least a day or so before going out to pick it up. Ignore it if you go outside

My question too? How does one get caught being sent a package in a po box?

That's fucking sketch. Y put so much effort to bust 1-2 guys

Also, what would happen if I sent the package to a po box? Would happen? Like lol this random Asian guy who owns this store wud just sign for it and get fucked?

Also; shud I put my real name or not? I may ask enlil on his "ask an attorney" thread. Cause the I den gives mixed answers. I think making it 1-2 letters off would b best

If you sign for it, you own it. If its in your p.o. Box, and you receive it. I.e. Take it from p.o. Box or person at desk, you own it. If it gets shipped to you in a name other than your own, and you open it, that's a federal crime.

just stating facts.

the odds of it happening and coming back to you for personal amounts through regular u.s.p.s. Is highly unlikely I your vendor knows what he's doing. Even if not I doubt it would happen. Leave it in the mailbox for a day when you know its there and take package in with a stack of other mail, uninterested. If they can't prove you ordered it, then I have not a clue what would happen.

highly unlikely still.
