Almost Feeling Sympathetic for Undercovers at SOSMP

This past weekend I was at Aura Music Festival where I had been told by someone who works there that they had dropped off 6 under covers one night. Not a lot of arrests were made this time compared to the other festivals however which I am really happy to hear about.

But anyway, before you start getting angry with my title I'll have to explain where it's stemming from. My friend who I was camping with went over to a couple of people's campfire by the bath house near the lake. I'm giving the location for those who go to the Spirit of Suwannee park that might want to be careful when doing sketchy shit by the bathroom. Anyway, he went over to their campfire and asked them how they were doing, while he did not know they were undercovers. One of them says something along the lines of, "Eh.. I had to arrest a couple of people tonight so not that great.." while he progressed to pop open a beer and stare blankly into the fire. My buddy could tell that he did not seem happy with what he had to do.

Although I don't know if this is something that all of the undercovers experience, it can be. Let's face it, if it weren't for the presence for undercovers, then tons of people would be getting searched with K9 units right as they get into the gate of the park. Undercovers probably want to just get done with their quota of arrests as fast as possible and chill the fuck out afterwards and not have to think about it.

In the end, undercovers shouldn't be there but with this pointless war on drugs still happening, they will be there till the end of it. So be careful, check their shoes (usually nike new balances), keep your voice down as low as possible when talking about sketchy shit, and always keep your eyes peeled because they will hide in the shadows. They play smart but it's easy to play smarter.

Narcs at festivals deserve no sympathy

Anyone who would be willing to fuck another human being's life up for the sake of meeting a quota is a piece of shit in my book

Busting heroin dealers and shit is one thing but busting people who aren't hurting others with what they're selling is just wrong

And that's why I'm thinking this undercover seemed so depressed. He probably joined the police to actually protect people and they make him do shit like this so he believes himself to be a piece of shit. If he didn't meet his quota he could lose his job.

I'm sure some cops don't enjoy busting kids for having a good time but there also is a lot of sketchy shit that goes down at Suwannee. Its one of the shitty realities of the Suwannee, everyone is doing a lot of illegal shit.

People do a whole fuckton of illegal shit at my local fests and nobody ever gets busted for any of it because we play it smart

It just depends on the local police force I guess and how scummy and desperate for busts that department happens to be

Mine's in PA in a pretty conservative area as well

But then again it's also a very small local fest on a privately owned fairground, cops can't legally come in unless they catch someone doing illegal shit outside the gate by the road which security is real anal about not letting people hang out down there so it never happens anyway

But I've been to at least 8 fests at that place over the past 3 years and we've seen some people we suspected to be narcs but not once have I ever seen anyone get busted

And there's a lot of shit that goes through those fairgrounds.. I've seen huuuge bags of weed bigger than pillowcases, I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of hits of LSD so I know mad shit goes through that place but people are real smart about it up here

People do that at SOSMP too but occasionally people get the hands of the law put on the shoulders with the words of, "Suwannee police, don't move a muscle, we heard everything you just said".

Lol @ 6 cops hiding in the dark to book someone over hash oil at a festival. This thread sux, I'm glad I didn't come across too much LEO BS at Hulaween. Having second thoughts about Wanee fest now though. The cops in the OP would quit their jobs if they were worthwhile human beings.

I'm sure ruining people's weekend isn't an undercover's main motivation for doing it.  And they are highly motivated to resolve the cognitive dissonance resulting from the disparate thoughts of "I'm a cool guy", and "I'm here to bust people".  Most of them say things like "It's unfortunately part of the job", or "Hey, they shouldn't be using drugs right out in the open", or just sitting around the campfire, cracking a beer, and just working through their guilt.  There's always some reason to rationalize any action.  It's fine, and I encourage you to see things from other's POV, but do realize, these undercovers will turn right around and bust you if you give them a reason to.

If you're smart you really don't have to worry about it. Just don't act like a spun out idiot making dirt angels in the path shouting shit about deems or other shit and you'll be good. Also don't do things in the open if you're right by the paths. Hopefully they do quit their jobs lol.

And also, wayyyy more people were arrested at Hula than Aura this year so to not go to Wanee based on this shouldn't be a deciding factor if you went to Hula.
