G2G advice???????

So whats the deal with g2g????


Just use a clean spoon , scoop some grain(popcorn) out, throw in some grain (BRFcake) and seal then jar back up?????

and if your popcorn isnt SOFT enough this slows down the mycelium I guess right????


The lorax's first try at g2g, doesnt look so great, but, he has freshly PCed jars ready to go, any advice???? :confused:




He cooked his Popcorn for 1 hour after soaking before pcing and it looked and tasted alot softer then before,now he just wants to get the g2g right this time, just a clean spoon and a quick hand???????


Small chunks of brf, just mixed in quick???
The lorax's first g2g has him down, he wants to get this second one right, the first try has some jars that are incubating, but they are growing slow, he thinks this is because the popcorn was harder last time.

And 2 of them are contamed for sure, but the contams are small so he moved the jars to another room to see if he can see this mycelium eating contam thing people sometime mention with B+. :mad:

But he would much rather have this next set of jars grow well.

He is going to use hydrogen peroxide, to wipe down the spoon, open the jar quickly scoop, drop in the BRF chunks, cover them back up, and throw the jar lid back on.(and then on to the next jar and the next jar.....)

you need a flowhood or glovebox for grain transfers.

Can it be done with a lot of Lysol and other sterility measures...like spawning?

nope. grain's full of nutes and it needs to be sterile or it'll spoil.

I'm not getting the BRF part.

You wanna take pieces (scoops) of colonized grain and drop them into fresh, sterile, uncolonized grain jars to create more spawn. I'm sure there is some detailed info archived around here.

The caking consistency of BRF defeats the purpose of using grains, their ability to separate when shaken.

As mushmaster said: you will need to be very clean!

I would build a glovebox, but I have in small bathroom lysoled everything thoroughly and had no contams. It was my first G2G, gloveboxes are so easy to build though, so I just built one for the next time. If you have the time build a glovebox.

plus, you can make syringes with a glovebox, atleast you can kill multiple birds with 1 stone by building yourself one :wink:

Thanks!!!!

I will shoot some jars tonight and G2G sometomorrow when I have the glovebox built, besides, I wanted to make syringes anyway! :smile:

I used chunks of cakes(fresh f rom the jar) when I tried the first time BEN :smile:
