Kew Gardens
    #2276577 -

Hi all, went round Kew Gardens (London) with my new camera last week. Haven't quite figured it out so some of the photos are a bit screwed, but never mind.

So just a few finds...

Spot the Geastrum triplex!

Not sure on this but looks similar to Lactarius spp.

There were huge pathes of these bright red shrooms... no idea what they are though.

And finally a photo I quite like

Thanks

those in that second pic look reminiscent of overmature [faded] C. nuda aswell. i would keep the genus Clitocybe in mind as a possibility at any rate.

[edit: just saw that little insert pic, is that color accurate?]

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Nice, Kew is always a nice place for a walk around
I got married in those gardens.

The colours in the insert aren't completely accurate, they're too intense.... one of the problems with the camera!

It was the first time I've been to Kew, but it does seem great. I bought a season ticket so hopefully I'll find lots more shrooms there.

There was a sign in the palm house saying something (very briefly) about using introduced fungal species as part of the maintenance. Anyone know about this? sounds quite interesting, could they be using fungi which fix nitrogen, or have a pesticide property?
