Vinegar/Baking Soda
    #2284999 - 01/29/04 08:42 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

i don't really clean...ever,  I have a theory that the bioacculation of house hold chemicals is far more dangerous than building a resistance to bacteria, so once a season i'll take some vinegar and baking soda to the shower to get rid of mold and mildew.  I did a search and i was wodering if it would be safe to use these around/ or with plants to control mildew?

well yea.do u mix them? it makes salt water so to much salt is bad for plants if u use to much. but the co2 is good for them

if the plants get too much of either one it could lower or higher teh PH  depending on wich one.

doubt ull have a prob man

vinegar should be perfectly safe for your plants.
also on that bacteria thing, how about using pure warm water to clean? one thing is house hold chemicals and bacteria resistance another thing are diseases and man made thing you cant grow resistance to, but i agree some, reason why there are so much asthma and allergy is because people lives to sterilie but this conversation doesnt belong in EG perhaps

Its not salt water as most people would consider salt water. It is water that contains a salt but not NaCl, table salt, like we eat.

Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) reacts with Acetic Acid (household vinegar 5% solution) to yield Sodium Acetate (CH3COONa).

Any acid-base neutralization reaction forms some kind of salt, but not the salt that we're used to hearing, as was already said.
