Disco Biscuits suck. Straight from Lotus's drummer mouth. And i agree.. Umph's is probably the most technically solid band performing today. I think next to Phish they are the best band playing on the jam scene.

biscuits have been inconsistent for the past decade, um are way more consistent. ive seen um 40 times and they sounded great the first 35 shows. biscuits sounded like shit at half the shows ive been to. their set at gotv 2 years ago was the worst set of live music ive ever seen. um doesnt do improv well, tdb do which is why i prefer seeing them. they arent great musicians but they are extremely entertaining live.

Ive seen um maybe 12 times and tribe 32 times and disco about 28. Disco and tribe >>>>>>>>>>>>>> umphreys. Umphreys are really talented and the vocals are really pretty decent but its just a series of solos. Disco is by far the best improvisational rock band period. When they are on, its hard to believe some 20 minute improv is just made up on the fly. The drummer could maybe be more dynamic but the guitar player and bass player are SERIOUSLY underrated. Keys dude is pretty good too. Tribe has the best keyboard and bass player in the game except maybe mike gordon. They have been melting faces from fall tour into this recent nye. Umphreys is predictable. Unless i had a fat stack o cash i wouldn't pay for a show.

Well OP hasn't said anything about the show he went to. So it is official Umphrey's sucks and the Disco Biscuits are superior!

Sorry guys, forgot to respond!

They absolutely killed and definitely put on a much better show than the Biscuits haha. I still like the Biscuits, but I have much more respect for UM. They ended the night with a cover of Rushs Tom Sawyer, it was some legendary shit. The energy was amazing, met these two guys that were just absolutely stoked to be there, told em it was my first time seeing UM and their mouths hit the floor, it was hilarious

They are really good, but after you see them a few dozen times and listen to all their CDs they get tiring to see a few times in a year. Until that point though they are amazing, just wish they did more improv like the biscuits. They did an all improv show the other day cause Joel's dad died to honor him. Hopefully they do more of that in the future.

They are one of the only jam bands that are actually really talented musicians. Most bands are mediocre at playing, good at jamming. Umphs is really good at playing and mediocre at jamming. Though of course the 2nd most popular jam band is mediocre at both.
