I love this band. I am listening to their new podcast and it is so awesome. I have seen this band live 7 times and can't wait until October to see them again.

i use to like them, but i got pretty tired of their music rather fast. their stupid "jam shredding" crap and all the rest. from time to time they do a little dub groove i can enjoy, but that's about it.
don't care to much for the disco biscuits either in case you were curious.

i don't know what it is exactly, but umphrey's, moe, and the disco biscuits just sort of lost all of their magic and appeal for me. i use to like them all a good deal, but over the last year or so i've just lost interest completely. they all just strike me as generic jamband bullshit. also, in my opinion all three of them structure out their jams, which i think is kind of lame.

Old Schcol Freight Train was really good when I saw them. If I were to pick somebody to go and see, it'd have to be The Wailers again or some small time Reggae bands. RIP Bradley Nowell, too.

Umphrey's is sick live. Their studio stuff is great, too. They are very accomplished musicians.
moe. still pwns me tho if you got bored of it, well you need to take some molly at the next show and refind that magic... it's there, if you know what you're looking for.

I love Umphrey's. Never did get into moe. or biscuits though. Listened to the "the conch" a couple months ago and man was that shit boring as hell. Started thinking to myself, "maybe I missed something?" Then I put in Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame and re-realized "naw, i ain't missing a damn thing"

you need to listen carefully to the conch. it's an album you listen to with a high def stereo in a dark room, or with good headphones. there is an incredible amount of very fine detail going on beneath the surface you'd never pick up listening casually. that is what moe. does really well.
besides.. everyone knows when you're in a higher state of consciousness... the casual, subtle, low-volume, layered stuff going on in the background, the stuff your brain normally passes off and doesn't notice, is what blows everyone's minds

I'll dose up and throw some .moe in the rotation next time. Not Conch though... maybe one of their higher-rater shows
I love listening to music during shroom or lsd trips and discovering new layers of subtlety to it i hadn't noticed before
