    #6758755 -

Playing at the Newport on 4/20. I don't even know very much of their stuff, but I very well may have to go.

My favorite. I love this band. They've not allowed sbd's for a while but check out some '03 and '04 shows for great quality.

I've seen them many times, used to see them for $5 with almost nobody there. Those were the days...it's great to see the band grow, but I loved the cheap, personal shows;

Have fun. They're the best band around these days...

They're incredible. Unfortunately they won't be playing Roo this year. I think I heard that it had something to do with everybody throwing glowsticks all the time. UM has had a statement on their website for a long time against tossing glowsticks. People who do that shit suck and ruin the experience for a lot of people.

Also, UM and DB are doing their own gig out in Colorado called Trancegressions or some shit. Wonder how that'll go.

I'm glad to hear they're good live. I've probably only heard them about 3 or 4 times, time to hit up Oink and download some albums.

I'm going to see them next week with Brothers Past, should be a good time and sick afterparty

Glowsticks are usually lame...
but 80,000 people with glowsticks at Phish IT was pretty fuckin sweet with a head full of fractal blotters !

This is exactly how I feel about Sound Tribe Sector 9. Danksis used to see sts9 play when it would be like 14 people there.

I like Umphree's alot, too. I saw them at Bonnaroo, last year. It was a great show! I really liked when they jammed with Disco Biscuits. They played Another Brick in the Wall and Dark Side Of the Moon.

they're playing a free show at the zoo on sunday the 22nd with a bunch of other bands, including bisco. that whole earthday weekend should be nice - terrapin flyer w/ tom constaten @ the kinetic playground on friday, brothers past playing both fri and sat for $10 a pop, and then the free lincoln park zoo show on sunday. :rainbowcloud:

years ago, when they were quite a bit smaller, they had some good friends who lived here (people they knew through waterwheel & a university here) - at the time i lived abroad, but came back one summer when they played a fairly small show and then had the "vip" afterparty at a good friend's house.

it would have been more exciting, but i didn't really listen to them then (and don't really listen to them much now, besides seeing them a few times a year)

I've been watching them since they started here in South Bend...back in the late 90's. They were playing the small off-campus bars near Notre Dame, places like Corby's and the Madison Oyster Bar and Bridget McGuire's. Just got to know some of the guys when they relocated to Chicago...they were too good to remain a local band. They were just in town again for St. Patty's day with Adrian Belew...great show. I catch them whenever they are in town.

yea that was awesome. Did they play the end of Abbey Road too, or am I remembering that from elsewhere. Anyway that show was bad ass, so much energy from the crowd and the band was just grinding along. They're all such ace musicians.

I doubt that's true. They play plenty of festivals still and you'll probably see them at Bonnaroo again next year.

Hooray for Umphrey's! I'll be checkin out the next few Chi area shows.

I don't really get the whole Bisco thing. Someone enlighten me with a sick show or something so I don't just brush em off without hearing something that might blow me away.

One of the best performances of my life. Wish the sound quality was a little better. You really have to be at one of their shows to understand their music. And being dosed might help.

Well now we are just talking generalities. Doesn't it make all music better and more comprehensible.
