Re: 1500$ investments [Re: musiclover420]

I'm a musician and would totally spend it on the amp. What kind r u getting?

I want to get a mesa boogie transatlantic eventually but my money is focused on the family atm. But anyways I decided to invest 5500 in a Roth IRA a few years back and since the. It has depreciated to about $2000. In retrospect I would have better spent that money on the amp I want, plus some recording gear and some silver as an investment.

So as a scorned investor I say Buy the amp!!!

The listing is for a Mesa Mark V combo, the transatlantic sounds familiar I think I read about it recently somewhere. Looks pretty sweet. Nice n compact too.

Sorry to hear about the investment, maybe it will turn around eventually. Seems like a risky game to play so I have been hesitant to go that route.

call up your plug and spend a g on an ounce.

Gram it up and sell for 80 to 100 each.

You wil tripple up then buy your amp

You should open an e-commerce webshop and use seo to get customers if selling bongs or kratom.

I used to do exactly this but sold my businesses.  It gets boring after enough years of it.

So I have almost 1500$ saved up and am considering blowing it all on a super nice amp on Craigslist.

The amp goes for 2400+ new and is in like new condition being sold for rent money.

It is one of the nicest amps made and should at least hold its value if not go up over time possibly.

But considering 1500 is a pretty solid amount of money I thought I would ask the Shroomery what you would invest it in.

Two things I have considered and may do anyways are buy bulk kratom to re sell locally or glass bongs. Both can be found pretty cheap online and are taxed locally.

Any thoughts?

Music equipment is usually worth about half of what you paid for it.  So many factors go into buying used equipment it is a crap shoot.  You don't know what that amps been through.

Orange amp?

Either way I would consider that a purchase, not an investment.

Kratom resells like garbage on the streets.  Tried that one.  And glass only does well if you go to festivals, and when it comes to "bongs" security can snag up all your shit if you don;t have your wits about you.  If you are in a state like CO I doubt you'd have much luck with this either. China glass is everywhere.

Silver is extremely low right now if you wanted an investment, and the stock market is a buyers market right now.

If you want a purchase make it something you really want.  The only way to truly invest is in something that's either a risk, or a guarantee.  Amps are neither.  Bongs are a HUGE risk, and the time it consumes to sell them is epic man.  I sat on a case of glass while touring for 2 years.

Personally I would not invest in anything outside of my business, an extra $1500 is always a good thing in that regard. As far as random investments go, I would simply never do that, that's risk without the focus and know-how to make something out of it.

What kind of work do you do OP?

Also, as a musician I would only spend $1500 on an amp with money made from performing. Instead I would save that money to take care of unforeseen car trouble (flat tire, transmission bs, etc), since I've had to turn down lucrative performance opportunities due to transportation issues.

Ya unless you were planning on immediately selling said amp, or using it for a gig or a recording, I would suggest that's just a silly "investment"

You can't do as much with 1500 as you'd wish.  But you can plant a good seed with that.

That was my original idea when I saw the amp but I have a hard time passing up a deal so it is very tempting. I will probably wait and possibly do that one day.

I should have done that a year or two ago, I convinced a friends parents to buy a few when they were around 180-200$ and today I checked and their almost 450.

If the system continues to become more and more widely used (especially in China now) - with the increasing difficulty of mining, and rising demand for coins I think we'll see the price increase greatly over the next 8 years. Projections are basically invalid due to the inherent instability linked to its growth and uniquely new and untested nature, but more than a few very intelligent tech/economic types have projected anywhere from 10,000$-100,000 per coin in the upcoming decade - and honestly when you look at it mathematically I don't think that's particularly a longshot.

You should buy 1500 worth of bud and smoke it. It would be like an investment for memories of an adventure in your mind. :bigblunt:

I can tell you exactly what I'd do.

$1500 is approximately what it costs me to have the crawlspaces in my home insulated with polyurethane foam. Thats a 1 day operation that would save 20-30% on my heating bill for the rest of the time that I live in my house, which is probably several decades. That earns itself back bigtime and if I sell the house it has added value because I had that done so thats a win too.

According to a leading environmentalist site that has solid information, getting that done is comparable with putting the $1500 in a savings account that pays out 8% interest a year for every year you continue living in the house. For me it would be more like 12%, and energy will only get more expensive.
So, very worthwhile. Those are perennial stock market results from your crawlspace.

I don't know anything about amp qualities, but if think you'll make enough use for it, then it's worth it in the end IMO. As long as your not skipping rent to get it lol.
