Truck load of horse poo "PICS"

I aquired a truck load of aged horse shit today. It seems to have some sort of white fungal growth. I havent grown on poo yet, will this poo be sufficient?

wow that is a lot of poo. should last you for a very long time.
sure will. the poo i collected had the white growth on it (firefang) as well. it is supposed to be a good sign.  :thumbup:

It looks like you'll be doing a lot of screening. Quite a bit of foreign matter in that big pile of manure. Overall it looks okay though, not prime, but good enough.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

i found a pile of horse poo over 20 feet long
8 feet wide and at least 10 feet high on a horse farm and i can have all i want.
now the back part has grass growing on it and the middle is just brownish nuggets while the front of the pile is fresh n smelly.
should i dig into the middle or the back part to get the good stuff..... the stuff in the back has been there for over 3-4 years...
but i can have it all if i had a way to get it home besides my ford ranger....
what would you all do ....

How fortunate man! Is it from a local stable? As everyone else is suggesting, a proper pasteurization should settle all of your concerns especially with the mycelium already present. I have seen some interesting techniques with pasteurizing bulk amounts using metal drums over a fire. I believe Paul Stamets writes about the procedure in "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms."I'm just thinking out loud.

Go for the middle shit. The stuff on the end sounds too old for our purposes. Stuff on front is too young. I hate the big chunky shit tho. If you can, get it powdered as mucb as possible.
