Yeah let's put half the city's police force on taking down one guy. Could get away with just about anything, all you have to do is pay some guy to go mental on the other side of the city and get all the cops on him.

I don't know if the statistics are valid but supposedly since the early 1900's there has only been a total of 100 people killed by police in the U.K. While in the U.S. that can be accomplished in a month... if that.

It costs less to to pay them all overtime than it does to defend years of lawsuits. Pretty sure the police are ready for distraction crimes and have more than enough manpower to deal with more than one event. I doubt that would work in any big city

That was actually very poor policing in the beginning, several officers could have been injured or killed when the guy was swinging the machete at them.

in the fact that they put themselves in harm's way... and that they're unarmed but
let me ask an important question, with that incredibly great universal healthcare
that the UK has, where were the mental health officials in all of this?

Also, in 30 days when he's out, you don't know if he'll kill people. Nobody has a crystal ball except you apparently

As for the mental health official, you know as much as I do that there is no such thing. I've never heard of a psychologist riding along in a cop car in case of the occasional crazy dude. You know this...

Innocent until proven guilty

Cops recieve no mental health training and it's seriously needed IMO. But that doesn't mean they should just kill people they don't know how to handle...
