Arrested for no particular reason

Well last night me and some friends were just chilling, smoking a bit of grass and hanging out, playing guitar. We met up with some guys who we weren't too fond of, but my girlfriend was with them and a few other people who I'm friends with. They were drinking and by 10 or so, were quite intoxicated, some other guys joined our group and decided to knock over some fences, about 10 seconds after they knocked it over we heard "Who the fuck knocked over my fence", we ran off, me and a friend of mine down a sidestreet away from the whole thing, we came back 10 minutes later and heard that some guy came up, put a gun to my friend's head and asked "Did you knock my fence over?", my friend calmly told him no and the guy just kind of left. Anyways I guess when he got home he called the cops because about 20 minutes later 3 cars showed up and questioned all of us, they got names from everyone, called parents, girls were crying, guys were lipping off cops, it was all great entertainement.

When the cop came to me, a woman cop by the way, she asked my age, I told her 18, she asked for my phone number, these were my exact words:

"I would be more than happy to provide you with my phone number, but first I would like to know why my parents are being called."

She told me that they were being notified because I had been commiting acts of underage drinking (not true), disturbing the peace (I had simply been walking around, not being loud and didn't say anything else to the police) and destruction of private property (I did not knock over the fence).

I told her I had not done any of those three things and asked if I could take a breathalizer test to prove my innocence of the first crime. She told me "Sure, come over to the car." So I walked over with her and she opened the back door, and shoved me in. I tried to ask for her badge number but she refused to give it to me. Another guy I know was in the back, he was clearly drunk and was lipping off the cops ("Fuck the police", "Fuck you pigs", things like that). So I see people who had been drinking ALL night, who had been drinking open bottles of hard liquor AS the police rolled up and who were clearly intoxicated WALKING away from the whole thing, no parents called, nothing. It doesn't bother me that they got to leave, it bothers me that I didn't get to. Anyways after most of it was cleared, off we went to the cop shop. I kept my mouth shut the whole time except once asking again for her badge number, she simply turned up the music in her car entirely too loud to be able to speak above, the whole time my "friend" sitting beside me was yelling and screaming, he was very drunk.

So, we get down there, the guy who I'm with, Corey gets taken to the booking room, he's yelling, bla bla, I was extremely polite, cleared my pockets, asked a few questions, that my parents be notified and I was informed that there would be no point in a breathalizer test because I was not being charged for it (Only brought down to the station, for no reason mind you.) So I gave them my shit, had to strip naked for a few seconds, they held my stuff for me and stuck me in a holding cell with Corey, about an hour into it some guy showed up, told me to get out. My stepdad was waiting for me in the lobby, we went home, talked, they weren't mad, I didn't do anything wrong.

I just think it's ridiculous that they culprits of the crime weren't even arrested, and I was simply for trying to prove my innocence. I'm not trying to act like some victim and complain about cops all the time, I just find it stupid and annoying that I had to sit in the back of that uncomfortable cop car for half an hour while the dumb chick-cop talked to her chick-cop friends.

When my parents were phoned, they were informed that I was extremely well behaved, unlike Corey, when asked to sign a form signifying that the police were holding on to his materials Corey replied by saying "Fuck you!", he gave them a fake name, but his real number (very, very drunk). Anyways I think he ended up spending the night there.

All in all it was an alright experience, I found it funny, the drunk guy was the one causing all the problems in there, while the one who had been smoking pot gave them NO problems whatsoever, was very well behaved and I even got them to take off my handcuffs.

They had no idea I was high, I had not drank a drop and have not in several weeks, I did not cause any property destruction and did DEFINATELY not disturb the peace in the community. I'm glad I got out at 1 AM or so because it's hella uncomfortable in there.

As I said to my brother this evening, "I'm the only person I know of, who gets thrown in the drunk tank without being drunk."
