God dammit Sweden... I am officially jealous. I'm gonna take the steps to migrate there.e If shit becomes unsustainable I just gonna back here.
How amazing is that?
It only reminds me how far back Canada is compred to them and were only like 3 spots down the list. Oh the differences 3 spots can make...

Employers across the country including retirement homes, hospitals and car centres, are implementing the change
Sweden is moving to a six-hour working day in a bid to increase productivity and make people happier.
Employers across the country have already made the change, according to the Science Alert website, which said the aim was to get more done in a shorter amount of time and ensure people had the energy to enjoy their private lives.
Toyota centres in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, made the switch 13 years ago, with the company reporting happier staff, a lower turnover rate, and an increase in profits in that time.
Filimundus, an app developer based in the capital Stockholm, introduced the six-hour day last year.
“The eight-hour work day is not as effective as one would think," Linus Feldt, the company’s CEO told Fast Company.
"To stay focused on a specific work task for eight hours is a huge challenge. In order to cope, we mix in things and pauses to make the work day more endurable. At the same time, we are having it hard to manage our private life outside of work."
Mr Feldt has said staff members are not allowed on social media, meetings are kept to a minimum, and that other distractions during the day are eliminated - but the aim is that staff will be more motivated to work more intensely while in the office.
He said the new work day would ensure people have enough energy to pursue their private lives when they leave work – something which can be difficult with eight-hour days.
“My impression now is that it is easier to focus more intensely on the work that needs to be done and you have the stamina to do it and still have the energy left when leaving the office,” Mr Feldt added.
According to Science Alert, doctors and nurses in some hospitals in the country have even made the move to the six-hour day.
A retirement home in Gothenburg made the six-hour switch earlier this year and is conducting an experiment, until the end of 2016, to determine whether the cost of hiring new staff members to cover the hours lost is worth the improvements to patient care and boosting of employees’ morale.

how amazing is it that an entire country has ADHD
or
how amazing is it that because of a few slackers the entire country is taking home a smaller paycheck

Or maybe they are giving them more per hour to keep the same salary?

The standard of living, the cost of living and the wages are high in Sweden as far as I can tell.
I don't think many will be complaining.
The waiting list for an apartment in Stockholm is seven years.

so they force employers to pay more and get less, this cost a company which can put them in bankruptcy, they lose the business, the 100+ employees at each company lose their jobs and soon half the country is out of work which gives everyone more leisure time... sounds like a win/win

So is every employer being forced to go to a 6 hour work day or what? I'd the government forced me to work only 30 hours a week I would be pissed. This whole idea is for the birds. Sqwaaak!

like if you actually look at it people dick off like 75% of the time anyway especially in corparate jobs. People will get the same amount done in the 6 hours for cheaper but its still a stupid law to mandate.

... And then comes the economic collapse, the government's bankrupciy followed by years of anarchy, which then creates violent uprisings and senseless murder causing a genocide.
Essentially Sweden having a 6 hour work week will lead to the destruction of the planet via nuclear war. We should put an end to it now before it's too late...

I don't see what's so wrong with living your life and spending time with, and depending more on, family and friends than a job. I'm not a Mercedes guy. Volvo is good enough for me and my family.

I'll gladly take fewer hours for the same pay, it's like getting a raise but how does the government makes sure the company I work for doesnt go under because of the financial strain, the plant I work for employs 900 people, that's 1800 hours per day, 9000 hours per week they'd be paying for, that comes to around $135,000 each week they'd be paying out for the hours not worked, it's $7 million per year that the company would be losing in labor but how much would the be losing in product that would have gone to pay for those hours, how many sales would they lose if they cant meet the demand for orders
so sure, you're a volvo guy now but under these sorts of policies you could be a Yugo guy

even if they dont pay them the same, how will a company fill orders with fewer work hours, how will families support themselves taking a huge cut in pay, can you imagine what it's like to take home $150 per week less when you have a couple of kids and a wife you're supporting?

they can hire more ppl part time n shit i mean it actually makes more sense in this day n age the work day is 24 hr so to split it up into 6hr shifts makes more ssense to me plus productivity will go up when you treat people fairly and let them have more time to really be on point when they are in the office deadlines are still deadlines and all this. the people who live on that tight of budget can get another job this is 2015 ffs "booo hoo i cant afford to live on one job" guess what the company is never gonna care about your feelings, or your family, or your little problems you whine about so get that shit right out of your head its 2015 jesus.

ok, so you're all for children starving because employers cut hours due to new mandates, do you somehow believe that everyone is making $25/hr, remember those fewer hours also mean fewer consumer purchases because of those tight budgets which means local businesses will earn less and have to staff with fewer employees
fewer hours doesnt mean more productivity, it means fewer hours and the lower income employee is the one that suffers unless they're keeping that weekly pay which means the whole company suffers and will result in layoffs and possibly even closure

no it will jus all shift around the individual people are working less hours you see the companies still ggoing 24/7. theyll have to staff with more employees for the same amount of pay. which is kinda a headache but gives more of a talent pool to draw from. The people who cant aford to feed thier kids will figure it out thats not the companies problem dewd nobody cares
