56K Dead fans read this..

I know how much a 56K connection sucks. So, I'm gonna offer a helping hand to anyone who want's to get a Grateful Dead show or two, but who can't possibly download the tremendously large .SHN files.

Just pick out one or two shows from here that you want:

http://www.gdlive.com/shn/

And I will download the .SHN's and convert them to .MP3's and host them on my apache webserver for you to get.

(The only thing that I ask is that you do not put these files into the trading pool. This is just to benefit those who otherwise can't listen to these shows at all. The reason is that MP3's are inherently inferior.)

So, if you understand that MP3's are not for trading, but you want to get some shows to listen to; then go ahead and choose from that link.

It may take up to 24 hours from the time you request a show until the time that I notify you that it may be downloaded. This is because MP3 conversions take forever.

Interested parties will be notified when their show is ready, and given the download link via PM.

Using an application such as download accelerator is highly recommended to resume downloads, and to queue all tracks for automatic downloading.

I would dream for 56k,  i got 26.4! Now that fucking sucks!  Down loading mps is'ent even worth it for me. Living in the middle of the forest has its downfalls......

Damn, that sucks! You could always download all night. Just "set it and forget it" , like they say. Soon enough you'd have a show.

26.4 ?!!!!!!!!!!!! and here i am bitching about my 56k. But i doubt they are really THAT much different. Both go through the same phone wires which can only transmit 1 piece of info at a time. Your computers hardrive performance probably makes more of a difference.

I live smack in the middle of the Manistee National Forest, located in the lower part of MI.  The closest gas station is about 30 miles! the only thing i hate about it is, the hour drive to work every day!
