Yes, the fridge is the best place for them. Tell him to put them in a zip lock bag and throw them somewhere in the back so his parents won't think he's a herion addict. They'll have a shelf life of about a year in there.

My friend takes out the veggie tray at the bottom of the fridge and keeps his, spore syringes, mycelium water that is ready to innoculate, and prints underneath. Then he puts the tray back in. I dont know if you can do this with all fridges, but his works for this
