yeah i remember using dos, that was awesome.  too bad i forget it.  too bad im also not old enough to where i relied on dos. im actually probably too young to be at this message board but that doesnt matter because this is better than all others.

My first computer was a motorola 286 with 1 meg memory and a 10mb harddrive I had to upgrade to 4 meg memory so I could load win 95 when it came out. Before that we had a operating progam called geo works it was a "old" operating system, but sort of like win95.

mine was a vic 20 as well.
learned some basic crappy programming on it.

every one else was on atari & i had to play with tapes...
but was still cool...
then came 64~

real 64 bit color games...
blazing fast///

that tank game, the oither one with the spider.. time spider? or leaper?.. then came the real advanced role playing games...

hitch hickers guide?? that was fun for 12 minutes..

Actually I think that the Vic 20 was introduced earlier, or at least at the same time as the Timex/Sinclair 1000, but you still may have had me beat. I don't think I got mine until 83-84.

I had an Apple IIe when I was 8 (22yrs ago). My favourite games were wilderness campaign, load runner and hard hat mac. Me and my boyfriend who had the same computer downloaded a simulator just to take a sentimental trip down memory lane and play wilderness campaign etc again. It was cool for about a week then we got back to shadowbane and magic.

In high school I took some computer programming (early 80s) so I went out and bought an Apple IIe. This was before the first macintosh came out (anyone remember those Orwellian '1984' commercials for the first Macintosh?). I got pretty good at programming in BASIC and I did a little PASCAL and FORTRAN as well. Then I got out of high school and didn't touch another computer til the mid 90s. I bought one of the early pentium systems (P100, 8mb ram, 1 gig drive, $2000!). I had to re-learn all about computers again. I taught myself to work comfortably in the DOS environment (rather than relying on the windows environment for everything) and I started building my own machines. I've had at least a half dozen home built machines since.

Remeber the Turtle in the Apple II.  You programmed to him to shoot around the screen in different colors.  I think I was in 2nd grade when I learned that I thought it was the coooolest. :cool:

My first one was a Packard Bell pentium, 75 mhz, 8mb ram, with windows 3.11 and dos. I could run doom on it which seemed impressive at the time.

Back in the early 80`s I was working for the USPS as an engineman and we were loading this 500+ lb IBM computer in a trailer.It had slots all on the sides for punch cards that had to be loaded manually...I really didnt even know it was a computer until I asked my supervisor what the hell it was and he told me it was going to New York to the Smithsonian Institute.. :shocked:

I got my first computer 20 years ago next month! It was an Apple Macintosh. I think it had 128k of ram and a 10 MB hard disk, but as I was barely 3 at the time it's hard to remember the exact specs :smirk:

20 years of computer usage...I feel like I've reached a milestone in my life or something!

OK the link worked... but now where do I go to actually download it?? there are two little links at the bottom that say 'get it here' one takes me to a site that when I click the botton to download the pushover.zip file it wants me to download stupid shit like clock synchronizers and browser toolbars... but NEVER pushover.zip... and the other link is in fucking french.

EDIT:OK, i've finally gotten the pushover.zip file... and when I unzip, there's only three files, titled 'DPS' 'File ID' and 'Push.RAR'

WTF? where's the exe file?? I went to the tech support forum for the underdogs site and searched and it someone else had the same problem and all that was said is you have to 'unpack' the .rar file. WTF? how in the hell do I do that? anytime I click, or right click, on the file it will either say windows doesn't know which program to use to open this file or there won't be an option to unpack or unzip when I right click.

ARG I just want to play this game

pushover.zip
I'm trying to get it running but it's a dos based game and xp doesn't seem to like those very much.

This file when unzipped has a push.exe file that runs the game. The problem I'm having is getting sound and remembering how to start the game. The opening scene runs as do the credits. That seems to be as far as I can get.... so far.

d00d I figered it out. you need to get WinRAR then once you get that installed, you'll be able to double-click the PUSH file then once you do that a window will come up, double-click push.exe then it will run.

phew.

I love this game

yeah it's XP

and it kinda lags sometimes.

you can download the manual from the underdogs site too. all I really remember is space makes the little ant push the dominoes over.
