Heads up for the nature freaks

This coming Sunday is going to be a very special event. I've been waiting for it for awhile now and we're finally nearly there. We will have a lunar eclipse, but not only the eclipse, we will also have a super moon (one of my favorite phenomenon to do with the moon). Will be a pretty spectacular sight, don't miss it.
Quote:
It hasn't happened in 32 years, and won't for another 18 years: Sunday evening, a total lunar eclipse will coincide with a "Supermoon."
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the full moon and the sun. The Earth's shadow covers the moon, which often has a red color, hence the "blood" moon nickname.
Although it's completely in the shadow of Earth, a bit of reddish sunlight still reaches the moon.
"That red light shining onto the moon is sunlight that has skimmed and bent through Earth's atmosphere: that is, from all the sunrises and sunsets that ring the world at any given moment," according to Alan MacRobert of Sky and Telescope magazine.
The total eclipse will start at 10:11 p.m. EDT (7:11 p.m. PDT) Sunday evening and will last one hour and 12 minutes. It will be visible across North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific, NASA said.
Weather permitting, folks in the eastern half of North America can watch every stage of the eclipse, from beginning to end of the partial phases, with the moon mostly high in the sky, Sky and Telescope reports.
In the West, the first partial stage of the eclipse will already be in progress when the moon rises in the east around sunset.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/sciencefair/2015/09/21/lunar-eclipse-supermoon-blood-moon/72572664/
Tons of people all over the planet will be able to witness it (unlike those damn solar eclipses which just don't ever seem to happen around me).
I really don't want to miss this one. Somehow I always do miss stuff like this though, either it's complete overcast or I forget.

Yes, i'll likely be engaging in this year's autumn psyquinox on this date. The water phase ov the journey(which corresponds with autumn/the exhale ov breath) should begin to transpire around the start ov the eclipse if all goes as planned.

Thanks for the heads up. I will trip accordingly... I was gonna trip real soon anyway, especially since today is 12/12 day and all. The Perseid's show last month was pretty weak from my view, (10 miles from NYC) I saw less than 5. . . .

What's 12/12 day?
And I've never really had any luck with meteor showers. Until very recently I've been pretty much bound to highly light polluted areas. So you hardly see any to begin with. Most times it ends up being overcast. Now I'm technically not bound to the city but I can't smoke weed either and laying back watching the meteors without it just seems like it wouldn't be the same.

"12/12 Day" = Equinox
Quote:
There have been just five such events since 1900 (in 1910, 1928, 1946, 1964 and 1982), NASA said.
Every 18 years, and now it's happening in an odd number year. Wonder what happened in Y2K
It's funny, I clearly remember the one in '64. I was 7, and the family (and neighbors) always watched all the sky events. They were outside bbq/social hangin' out anyways, eclipses, comets, were a big deal.
I remember this one too, the 'satelloon', same year, we could see it around twilight sometimes .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Echo
Quote:
This is the last total lunar eclipse visible anywhere on Earth until 2018, according to Sky and Telescope. Americans will actually see a total solar eclipse (in Aug. 2017) before the next total lunar eclipse.

Well at least I'm not in a "poor area".
What is that of anyways? Forecast of clouds on that night?

yeh its mostly clouds prob
Quote:
A storm system may spoil the chance for clear skies for some in the Northeast. With an Atlantic storm looming offshore in the North Carolina-Virginia area, the storm's ultimate path will dictate which areas have an increase in cloud coverage.
"Boston has a much better chance for clear skies than Washington, D.C.," Samuhel said.
Farther inland, skies are expected to be clearer with some breaks.
"Since the full moon will be fairly high when the partial eclipse starts at 9:07 p.m. EDT, seeing the moon will be no problem for people in the Eastern time zone," Berman said
