It's never too late to change. Don't you watch movies? In half of them the bad guy always realizes he's fucked up and tries to fix things, usually giving his life to do so.

:lol: Really, I just wasn't brought up on sports. My grandpa took me to an Astro's game once, and I played football in the local field with the neighborhood kids (and I was always one of the first picks because no one could run as fast as I could) but other than that, they've never really had anything to do with my life. I did have a football card collection that was stolen, barely fit in one of those huge 3 inch binders. Been at least 20 years and am still pissed about it. Even back then it was worth a couple hundred dollars minimum. I don't remember what it was, but one of the cards I had pretty recently sold for over a thousand bucks.

Every damn Thanksgiving I was forced to sit there and watch Football and hated every second of it. Locked up, it was always basketball, and again, hated every second of it. The one device that might help pass the time and I have to watch something I consider to be so boring I'd rather stare at a wall. :mad2:

See that's the thing. I was. My Dad was always watching games. Basketball, football, baseball...fucking hockey. Didn't matter. All the Detroit teams, too (we're from Michigan). So as a kid, I'd be in the living room with him watching. And by like 9 years old there was no turning back. I was already a fan. Kids in the neighborhood would want to go play. Like normal fucking kids. But me, I was running back home to catch the game. Smh.

I still blame my Dad for me being a Detroit Lions fan (one of the worst franchises in all of professional sports).

It's fun to follow a team and be passionate about something.  I love football,  college more so then pro but I like them both alot.  When my mountaineers lost the last game of the season to Pitt in 2007 to keep them out of the national championship game devastated me.  WV has a national power house team every few years but there not perennial powers like alabama.  I may never see a national championship and that kinda makes me sad but every year I hope and go to the games and root them on.  The game day atmosphere at  WVU is one of the best in the country and I've been to a fair share of other stadiums.  Actually I don't think I would of liked football as much as I do if I haven't been to a game.

But hell there's not a damn thing wrong with following and supporting a team. Actually when someone says they don't follow sports I view them in a different light.  Kind of see them as a little fairy diddle.  I know I shouldn't think thay way but I do.

Also I've tried to get into soccer. I have a ton of respect for those guys.  There's so much running it's ridiculous.  But damn is it boring. I've seen some boring football games but they were probably more exciting to me then any soccer match I've ever seen.  Soccer has some really good athletes, you can't deny that,  but football has the most freakish athletes in the world.  There big, fast, stong, sexy as hell and there is just some earth shattering hits.  Every play someone is getting hit hard and there's usually 3 or big big hits a game. I know soccer is the world's most popular game but it's not even close in America.  And I really don't think it ever will be, at least in my lifetime.  I know soccer is getting more popular but it still doesn't come close to the other sports.

I could watch every ball of a test match when the BBC showed it, only getting up to take a piss or have something to eat when they 'took tea' or 'stopped for lunch', I shit you not.
I tried watching it, after the government sold it out to the capitalists, when channel 4 took over, but the adverts in between every 'over' threatened to drive me into fucking insanity.

A series of games, each of which can last upto five days from 11am-7pm and... the whole series can end in a draw. Try wrapping your head around that fucker.

Of the hand-egg games I prefer rugby league as their is less time wasting stoppages or chance for the shitheads who want to sell me shit I don't want getting a look in. :oldman:

Anyway,To add to the topic, Baseball is the American Pasttime and that game definately has a certian 'pace.'

Some football teams are going with a quicker pace, generally.

If anyone watched the 9ers you saw a great example of it monday.

Actually they made the playoffs pretty recently prior to last season. 2011 I think it was. The year Stafford threw for like 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns. They got their ass kicked by the Saints in the first round, though.

Yeah, you're right! Then we gutted em after they had all them suspensions for bounties, was it?

They gotta get out of that jeckyl and hyde thing they've been doing, like the game in London where they were down big at the half and came back and won. Matt had the eye of the Lion that day..

Big changes in city sports, new coaches all over.. kind of a shakey time, but we got the Wings and their farm system is pretty great, imo. That's a streak worth talking about!

Yeah man that streak is incredible. Best streak in professional sports. What is it, 22 straight playoff appearances? That's frigging amazing. And that new downtown arena is going to be off the charts.

because all the quality team play in europe .... MLS is shit compared to european soccer. i dont watch american soccer i watch european soccer which is alot more entertaining than american footbal

Gladiator sport vs a prancing around and low score games. The only exciting part of soccer is when the fans of 3rd world nations riot and decapitate heads. The players are essentially some of the biggest pussies. They flop more than the NBA.
