I know and have known Muslims who were wonderful people and for whom Islam was a primary driving factor in making them even better persons.

The problem isn't Islam, its forces at work within Islam.

If you have someone who commits Evil your enemy is the Evil within that person, not that person or his family and friends.

Let's be fair, Zap. Like Christianity, Judaism, etc, there are many sects of Islam. In remote place here in Tennessee there are still snake handlers. I've been to a few Episcopal and Methodist services and there weren't any snakes anywhere.

The problem isn't Islam per se but with all these radicalized splinter groups. The small town I live in has a sizable Muslim population, and there have been nobody shot or bombed. I'm certainly not defending the actions of the ISIS brutes by any means however, but they're not all bad you know.

Spain translates more books to Spanish every year then the entire Islamic world has, not in a decade, but in over a thousand years. They don't want knowledge, and there aren't like, many diverse Ideologies in Islam. The Quran is a short and fairly straight forward book.

I am not defending radical Islam. I have stated here we should kill every member of Isis we possibly can.

      But this thread began (actually I didn't read it all, just the title.) with some reference to sodomy. I personally don't care what any consenting adults do, but I know that some Red states, most recently in the South East, only recently dumped their laws against sodomy, which included oral sex between males and females. I know I'm being prejudiced about my preferences, which are not the same as everyone else's.

      However, I also completely agree with Bill Maher's assertions that our crazies are a whole lot better than their crazies.

This isn't Islam, tho. Isis are a bunch of infidels according to the teachings of the Prophet.

According to me, they're a bunch of mad rabid animals that should be exterminated!

But to pretend that what we see there is Islam is just wrong, that is NOT AT ALL what that is.
And what you are doing by insisting that it IS Islam is building walls between us and Muslim peoples. Muslim peoples who are being massacred by Isis, just so you know.

Christianity is pretty nuts too, in the Old Testament particularly. But some of the nicest folks I've met have been devout Christians. I'm friends with a guy from Iran who is of a more Liberal sect of Islam, and he's quite a nice fellow. Loves him some good weed too.

No, the problem is a lot of muslims, especially sunnis take the koran literally.  It's a pretty horrible religion started from an illiterate child raping warlord.  If you idolize that type of person, and put a high priority on dying in jihad your religion will never be productive.  Throw several hundred billion dollars from House of Saud funded madrases teaching an extreme interpretation of Islam throughout the world and you end up with our current situation.  ISIS and Nursa really aren't on the fringe of main stream sunni islam.  Hating and killing shias is a time honored tradition for them.  You can say Christianity and Judaism are equally as fucked up, and while that may have been true at one time, it isn't anymore.  I'm sure Islam will get their shit together at some point, but it isn't going to be in our lifetime.  We should not be supporting such backwards government even if they do serve our geopolitical goals.

You people keep saying this, yet I have here a Koran and it never said anything about illiteracy, child raping or being a warlord.

There is something about the Prophet marrying a young girl after his former wife died, because he lived in a tribal place so you know how that goes, and then he did not consumate the marriage for years until she was ready. This is presented as a moral thing to do.

There is also a bit about him waging war against his former tribe who rejected him. But they attacked his city, so I don't know if that is what you ment. It was the Prophet and the first Muslims standing side by side with Christians and Jews against a force of polytheistic warlords.. maybe you got confused?

Or, and here is a real possibility:
You are just repeating bullshit you hear others who also hate Islam say, and because people like you repeat the lies often enough, a whole legion of morons believes them without question, without ever having asked a Muslim, or read a Muslim text, or any thought what so ever.

So, I take it no friends or acquaintances of yours have died in a foreign country for reasons that are not entirely clear?
Or you don't know anybody killed in the last decade because of American intervention in the middle east?

It is Islam though.  Just like centuries ago the Spanish Inquisition was Christianity.  These fucking monsters are literalists and there are many texts enshrined in the Islamic literature that demand slaying or enslaving infidels.  Ever heard of Jizya?  Their enshrined treatment of women is monstrous as is what they do to homosexuals and their continued state sponsored cry for the elimanition of Jews. 

I saw something the other day that only about 7% of the German people were actually Nazis.  This is lower than the percentage of Muslims who live under sharia law enslaving women and killing homosexuals and enslaving infidels if they don't kill them.  The religion is the problem and Asante is being duped.

It is in their texts and a huge proportion of them act on it.  Saudi Arabian government, Iranian government.  Turkey is getting worse.  These are not random people.  They are the institutions of Islamic governance.
