I'm surprised at how few suggestions there are for Hendrix. Pretty much any of his music is excellent for tripping.

Also a little disappointed at all the Dark Side of the Moon... I see why people like it, it's just so played out. IMO Pink Floyd has many better albums not just for tripping but in general.

Causa Sui - Causa Sui; Summer Sessions, Vol. 1 - 3

Colour Haze - Periscope; Colour Haze; Temple

Cream - Disraeli Gears; Wheels of Fire

Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young) - Crosby, Stills & Nash; Déjà Vu

Earthless - From the Ages; Live at Roadburn

Funkadelic - Funkadelic; Free Your Mind... Your Ass Will Follow; Maggot Brain; Cosmic Slop

Goat

Grateful Dead - Anthems of the Sun; Live / Dead; Aoxomoxoa; Blues for Allah; From the Vault series; Dick's Picks series

Graveyard - Graveyard; Hinsingen Blues

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?; Axis: Bold as Love; Electric Ladyland; Band of Gypsys; Crash Landing

King Crimson - In the Wake of Poseidon; Red

Led Zeppelin - II; Houses of the Holy; Presence

Los Natas - Corsario Negro; Toba Trance; El Universo Perdido de Los Natas

Melody's Echo Chamber

The Moody Blues - In Search of the Lost Chord; On the Threshold of a Dream; To Our Children's Children

Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent; Erpland; Live Underslunky

Pink Floyd - More; Ummagumma; Atom Heart Mother; Meddle; Obscured by Clouds; Live at Pompeii (film); Animals

Sleepy Sun

Sun Ra - Space is the Place; Sleeping Beauty

Tame Impala - Lonerism; Live Versions

Unknown Mortal Orchestra

White Denim

Wo Fat - The Gathering Dark; Psychedelonaut; Noche Del Chupacabra

Yes - Yes; Tales from Topographic Oceans; Relayer

I'm sure there's more lurking in the back of my mind, but this is all I can think of for now.

Wow, nice detailed list man. I am definitely going to have to check some of these out. Thanks. & I agree, Jimi Hendrix is awesome for tripping-especially his live stuff.

I can't pick a 'best album' honestly... but here some suggestions:

Jimi Hendrix - Live At Woodstock

Smashing Pumpkins - Gish, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness

Sublime - Sublime (Their 3rd CD. This CD is better suited for low dose mushrooms, some weed, & a couple beers.)

The C.A. Quintet - Trip Thru Hell

Strawberry Alarm Clock - Wake up... It's Tomorrow

I'll edit this list if I think of more.

Yellow Submarine is cool. The Wall is a bit dark for my taste though, I prefer Pompeii. If you haven't seen Pompeii, that is a must for any Floyd fan, whether tripping or not. It's a live performance filmed in an ancient Roman amphitheatre. Lots of cool footage of the surrounding ruins, ancient tile art, some volcanoes... epic movie.

Thanks, man. I may have gone a little overboard, but I'm a bit of a music "collector" and I really love that trippy shit.

If I may suggest a few highlights to look into:
Causa Sui - self titled and Summer Sessions, Vol. 1
Colour Haze - self titled and Temple
Graveyard - self titled and Hinsingen Blues
Melody's Echo Chamber - currently only one album. Features Kevin Parker of Tame Impala.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II is my favorite, but all three are pretty good.

I'm curious to check out those Smashing Pumpkins albums myself... I've never thought of them as psychedelic, but I was never really exposed enough to get into them either.

In the world of music today
I cannot believe the perfect album to listen to start to finish would be by the same band
with that said, my favorite album maybe of all time is
The Prodigy Dirtchamber sessions volume 1.
It is perhaps the perfect dance album and feels like the history of hip-hop and techno with a splash of punk

I will check those out man. In my opinion, The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the best bands to trip to. A highly underrated tripping band. If you are looking for some SP songs to listen to their is a "Smashing Pumpkins" Thread in the music, arts, & media forum that has lots of song suggestions, music videos, & so on. Currently me & another member are trying to make that an ongoing thread for all the SP fans & music lovers that want to possibly get into the SP.

Their first CD, Gish, definitely has the most psychedelic influence on it out of all their CD's. I said this in the Smashing Pumpkins thread I was just talking about, A trip tends to bring out a lot of different emotions & SP songs are based on a variety of emotions-happy, sad, joyful, dissapointment, anger, frustration, & so on. So the two go hand in hand. I bet during SP's heydey they were doing psychedelics occasionally.

the very first time i took mushrooms (at about 16 it was also my first psychedelic experience in general) i listened to the butthole surfers' "locust abortion technician" in its entirety.

on paper this seems like it might be a bad idea as the album is often described as being like "the soundtrack to a bad acid trip" but i had an amazing time, and this trip led me to a continued love and appreciation of psychedelics ever since.

here it is in its entirety:

I tripped for the first time on WoW in almost a year on the 4th. I was watching the Dead50 stream at home with the girlfriend and that was, as always, amazing music to jam to on acid. I'm not a Deadhead in the least TBH, but on acid they just bring out a very positive trip every time I hear them.

My next trip I want to listen to:

Thievery Corporation - Saudade ( full album)

I just recently found out about them and they have some of the most beautiful music I've ever listened to.

Another band I've grown to really enjoy lately is "Rising Appalachia". I've not much knowledge of their different albums but everything I've heard so far has been amazing & suitable for tripping

Also a shout out to "Rubblebucket" (Have any of you guys heard of them?)
A member here suggested them to me and I believe he found out about them randomly as well.
Just amazing musicians with raw power over their instruments. Check them out.

if nobody has mentioned atlas sound yet, these work pretty well too. just busted out parallax for the first time in awhile tonight. i forgot how good it is. this is the frontman from deerhunter's solo stuff. really trippy stuff more along the lines of "halcyon digest" but with more pronounced electronic elements. lots of interesting layers of sound. i have gotten lost in all three of these albums countless times, sober and not.
