Handmade Guitar Pedals
    #21951530 - 07/16/15 11:21 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Anyone interested? I found an ebay seller recently who hand makes pedals with cool unique wooden bodies and sells em pretty damn cheap.

Scored one for 30$ with 7~$ shipping, most of them are 45$ though for nicer ones.

He makes clones and originals and everything in between, seems open to custom work too.

Figured someone here might appreciate it besides me, here is his page:

Ebay Seller

He has 19 pedals listed right now all auctions ending at varying times.

Most of them are varying distortion/ fuzz pedals and hybrids but he has a some of everything as far as I can tell, some really sweet looking stuff.

Here is the one I got from him:

It is an Electro Harmonix big muff clone that was improved upon allegedly, I have never used the original so I can't compare it to that.

But it is an intense lil pedal! A bit to geared towards metal or hard rock for my liking but I dig it. It is like a fuzzstortion pedal with crazy sustain.

Works great for for lead but is way to distorted for most chords really, I am debating selling it on CR to fund one of the more expensive pedals from him.

Some of those other distortion pedals look so diverse, I am either going to get one or ask the guy to do a custom one for me....

So hes not really making the pedals as much as hes making cases for them and doing slight mods? Ill be honest, that pedal is atrocious to me. Looks like a 6 year old girl made it in day care.

Making a custom body and wiring everything yourself is really making it last time I checked

Because 6 year old girls totally know how to wire and engineer an effect pedal :facepalm3:

What does appearance even have to do with an effect pedal? The point of it is the sound...

These are just cool as they are all custom and unique. I did not buy that pedal for the appearance, though he has some cooler looking ones.

They're ugly, but those are good prices. Let me know what you think of that one and I might consider making a purchase for myself

How many of them did you look at before deciding that? They have pretty beautiful wooden bodies and some cool lettering on them.

I wouldn't say they look great but I wouldn't say ugly either. I like how mine looks.

All the photos are terrible so that doesn't help, maybe I will upload a couple to highlight its cool parts.

As for the sound I like it a lot so far. Very intense fuzz sound with the sustain or tone turned up and it is crazy loud.

Very thick tone, sounds pretty tube like though I am using it with a tube amp

It sounds pretty much like the videos of an EHX big muff I watched, a bit more intense even. If you haven't heard one here is a good demo:

It has loads of sustain and fuzzstortion :hairmetal:

I dont want to argue semantics, but this cat didn't engineer anything. Hes just modding circuits and putting them in bedazzled cases. Like mandarin posted you can learn to do this stuff yourself. The pedals might be great, I just couldn't get past that 6 year old art work

Jam on though :aum:

How many of his pedals did you even look at?

Because he has 19 up right now and many of them are pretty unique.

The one I got was the only cheaper one he had, it was probably an earlier one or something  I still fail to see why appearance matters with a pedal

The two weird swirls are the only things on the pedal that look bad really, the lettering has a beautiful abalone pattern too it and the wood has a nice grain.

Plus it sounds great, especially for the price. I want to learn how to make my own pedals eventually but it is not that simple.

I looked through the collection, may not have seen every single one but I get the jist. Not trying to insult you or the dude who designed them or anything but that's just not my style of design

Yeah I was picturing something very different when I read that they were unique wooden cases. Something along the lines of these maybe:

Does he have a site where you can hear what they sound like?

Buying a guitar pedal based on cosmetics, in today's market with literally thousands of GREAT pedals, is kinda sketchy.

Well many of them are clones so in y case I based it on videos of the original pedal.

For the price though it is definitely worth the risk.

Decent to nice pedals are easily 50-100$ so 45$ worse case scenario and you hate the pedal sell it on Craigslist or something

Also many of the pedals have pretty in depth descriptions of the features, that is goo enough for me.
