Re: What do I do to start the second flush on a casing?
    #21856 -

Well Pappa,

To answer that question is quiet simple. What you do is just lightly scrape the top with a STERILE fork to airate and spread things up a bit. Then just spray it to re-moisten it and there ya go.

Hope that helps.

Build up the moisture content of the casing soil. Use a spray bottle with a fine mist (you can use regular tap water).
Also mist the casing while shrooms are growing just don't spray on the caps as this will cause bacterial4 pits..

The next flush will be ready to pick 5-8 days after the first flush is harvested.

Here's an ima ge to show how your second flush looks may look like. It's B+ on birdseed cased with peat.

Una Bomber,

How many cakes did you use in that casing?

I do not use cakes, but i use boiled and sterilised birdseed as substrate. This container contains +/- 550 ml. birdseed and 300 ml casing soil (peat/lime)
