st. john's wart works for enhancing shroom trips...

i don't know how to say it scientifically or statistically, but it does help.

i took 6 extract pills of st johns wart, when the normal dosage was 1. usually my high lasts 2-3 hours with 30-50minutes of aura at the end (just euphoric happiness feeling)...

on a friday:
3gms in a chocolate and 8 st johns wart...
trip kicked in after 40 minutes, at 930... visuals stoped at 1230-1amish... and i was high till 3am-4amish (the special high)

i'd say i got a 6-7 hour trip where i usualy got 3-4

on the monday:
same chocolate and 6 st johns warts, no grass:(
i get a 6 hour euphoric trip and all that, but the lack of grass created a lack of visuals and geeking

all i can say is... its worth spending 8$ on hehe

yeah having herb with you when you trip definately makes the experience more intense. i love smoking at my peak and when i start coming down.

i believe st. johns wort is a mild maoi. could be wrong, but if i'm not that is why it enhanced your mushroom trip. the reason you probably didn't get any visuals on monday was because your tolerance was up and your not going to have as much of as an experience you had 3 days earlier. wait a week atleast, and then trip again.

I tried st johns wort(5 pills) the other night with a chocolate and a half...I thought i was dying. It definitely extended the trip, but it also made me so drowsy. Feeling like youre going to pass out while nearly level 5 tripping is definitely bad news.
I cant say that it doesnt work, but I wouldnt recommend it.

If St Johns wart does have an effect, a low dose should potentiate shrooms as well as a high dose without more side effects. Why not take only 1 or 2 capsules. More isn't always better.

More definitely isn't better, that's true. You could always take more shrooms, or smoke more pot, but I think that it all has to do with the setting and the variables that happen during the trip that makes each one of them magic.

I'll look into st. john's wart however.

aren't MAOI's combined with shrooms mildly bad for your health anyway?
someone with some knowledge of MAOIs help me out here...

I mean obviously St Johns Wort is very mild MAOI but if you eat 8 of them it no longer becomes mild I'd assume.

edit:  St. John's Wort active ingredient is Hypericin, about .9mg per  standard pill.

Apparently too much st. john's wart can become counterproductive. That's why I never do shitloads of any substance, unless it's marijuana where even the most veteran potheads only really geek out when eating bud.

Taking a couple times more than the recommended dosage of st. john's wart could be interesting to try out, but not something I'd use for every trip.

This situation is actually quite ironic. Jroe actually tripped with my friend when he did those 8 pills. So, based off of that, I took 5(haha, so much for being cautious) with the same friend. I exerted too much energy at the beginning of the trip and then the st johns wort kicked in.
Bad news after that.

Anyway...st johns wort isnt actually an MAOI, But it has MAOI properties. On that note as well, MAOIs combined with shrooms are not harmful to your health. Just about every other drug out there, however, is. Psilocin is unbelievably stable and doesnt interact with MAOIs, it, however, does metabolize slower when combined(which is the desired effect).

st johns wort is a different plant from valerian...
different chemicals in 'em & everything...

st johns wort is not an MAOi or even much of an SSRi...
but it can be an effective antidepressant for some folks... & can also cause photosensitivity in many folks...

mmm, maoi's and mushrooms make for more intense trips. ie. syrian rue.

st. john's wort... mmmm, people claim it's not an maoi, i wouldn't know, but i haven't heard of it really being an maoi. i've heard it's mostly placebo actually.

maybe taking 8 pills of anything would make you trip harder, i mean, you're bound to think you're gonna get fucked up if you're takin 8, right? and your mind has a way of taking these things into consideration, and a tripping mind can certainly manifest these things as a more intense trip

i think 8 was to intense. 6 seems to be a magical number. you do have some intense moments, expecially when it starts. it also seems to work better outside, if that makes any sense. but when your around millions of objects (trees, branches, leaves, roads, signs ect) vs only several dozen (a room), it seems to greatly increase the effects.

however, i think thats just an observation of the trip haha. but taking 1-2 doesn't do much because it is a weak maoi. 6 would be alot hehe because it is an extract. look a the pill, it probably is 10-20x that ammount if it wasn't in pill form (extract). so 6 would be 6-12 cups of tea hehe

St.John's Wort can be amazing, but to get the best effects you need to take it in its natural form, collect St.John's Wort (the flower itself) and make a tea, pure St.John's tea is 100 times better,safer,more effective,enjoyable than st.john's wort pills.
