English question part 2-wrinkly vs crinkly (skin)
    #21638937 -

Hello. I was reading an article in a magazine about this pregnant woman who was afflicted with inter-uterine growth delay. She said her doctor told her that her baby would have skin that was droopy, dry, and crinkly.

Now, I would have said skin was that wrinkly. I wonder about the differences between "crinkle" and "wrinkle". I think that "wrinkle" is more specific, that it can only be used to describe creases in human skin, whereas "crinkle" is more general, and can be applied to humans as well as inanimate objects such as paper (the paper is crinkled".

Am I correct? Thanks.

A crinkle can be a wrinkle or series of wrinkles, and to wrinkle something is to crinkle it.

Yeah, that's correct.

Never heard anyone say someone would have crinkly skin. I would guess he meant wrinkly. That, or the baby's skin will look similar to the texture of crinkled up paper.

Naw a wrinkle can be on anything, and they essentially mean the same thing only crinkle sometimes is associated with a sound.

They mean the same thing as crevice or crease.  The definition of crinkle is actually: A wrinkle, ripple, or fold.
