Friend arrested with 1 kg weed, UK

Hi my friend has been arrested because some idiot who he sold 0.5kg of weed to got found with it on campus and for some idiotic reason told the police who sold it. The guy has been arrested and charged with supply he also had 0.5kg on him (125 eigths I think).

Will he go to prison? i am worried for him, hes only 18. I hope he just gets a fine. What will happen to him?

Why do the police not bother with crime instead, it seems life is unfair, the way he is being victimised when they basically dont bother with real crime, I can give many examples of them not bothering to tackle real crime, too. But want to get answers and shorter messages are more likely to be read. Why is life so unfair.

if it was packaged in eigths he's screwed in the bum. Probably will serve some time with a fine, but as it is UK i'm sure they will be much more leiniant.

I do not promise that this is accurate, but it's the best i can do.
If it was individually packaged, i'd say he's in really really serious trouble. With a good lawyer and no previous record, he *might* get lucky and only have to deal with treatment/probation. *might*

5 years? he cant do surely. Hes had no previous, he is 18, the ganj was half bagged. He has been told by his dads lawyer to plead guilty to selling the 0.5kg to the guy that grassed on him, he is also a university student studying English Literature at one of the top ten unis.

If he goes to jail then the system is completely screwed, he never made anymoney other than what he kept for personal usage thats why we could get it at 1/3rd street price and he knew a guy that grew shed loads, but hes not about to grass on him.

A guy walks in to a garage with a baseball bat he says im taking this car he does, the police know who done it and yet choose not to arrest the guy or even check if he still has the car as "He has prob sold it, theres nothing we can do".

A guy in a sooped up impreza gets blocked in by two crap cars a merc and a pug 205 a big guy comes out holds a gun to his window and tells him to get out. He slams it in reverse when the guy is distracted powers away the 205 and gos through the red light he is chased by the old merc which slams his car and somewhat damages the 50,000pound piece of hardware he breaks away by losing him on a nearby motorway and going 170mph. He sees police on a lay by, pulls up in his smashed car and explains what has happed. The police ignore what he said refused to believe him and told him to fuck off as the merc sailed past. When he tryed to report it at the police station the next day the police where equally not as keen.

When somebody was three years old 2 burglars broke in to the house beat up both the parents within an inch of there life tired them down robbed the house and proceaded to dowse in petrol and set it a light. The buglars got a 70 pound fine and community service.

Why can they also get away with blatant lies in order to extract statements too, they obviously threatend this guy that he would go to prison for 5 years even tho he just would not. There is one guy that was growing loads in his house and ended up with just a caution.

Just found out the results from court, the guy who grassed on him got a caution and he got a 500 quid fine, thank god.

Thats what's annoying about cannabis laws in the UK, it depends entirely on what part of the country you are in and which law enforcement individuals deal with the case. For growing a few plants or possesing large amounts you could get anything from a caution, a fine or community service upto 5 years in jail.

It's going to get worse when cannabis is downgraded to class C next year, there will be an assumption that people won't get arrested for posesion, so probably more people will smoke it more openly. However police will still have the power to arrest someone if they deem it to be appropriate to do so, and the full range of penalties will remain the same, with increased penalties for 'intent to supply'.
