Just found out I'm an 1/8th Spanish, and not pure white

For 28 years of my life I thought I was a pure whitey. I always wondered why Nanan was a bit brown skinned, I just assumed she was naturally tanned.

Weren't Spanish and Portuguese not considered white by the anglo saxons? Or is there no difference in DNA?

possibly some mixing from northern africa if they had good boats but still mostly european

I have some African blood. One of my ancestors was the daughter of a plantation owner. She had sexual relations with a slave, got pregnant and got shipped out back to Europe to hide the shame. She raised her mixed child there, my ancestor, about 200 years ago.

That African blood in me has always been screaming to be recognized. Even as a young kid I knew, I had dreams about it, racial identity issues, it came up in my trips, until finally a DNA test uncovered this part of my heritage and hardcore digging in the family history did the rest.

I'm happy that this part of me I always felt, which has been tugging on my consciousness all my life, has basis in fact.

I'm about 25% white, with some african blood, 25% native american, and 50% mexican, (mexican technically being mixed as natives and Spaniards). I'm happy with my mixed race. The white isn't even from a single area, just most of Europe to be honest. It's weird though, I got blonde hair and blue eyes but a naturally tan skin.

Spanish people are Caucasian.

To be honest i had never considered the actual meaning behind the word 'race'. I misunderstood the term, and because of that, would never have considered to google it. I've just leant something now that you've elaborated and i've googled. Cheers.

The pride people in here should do some research into their royal families. Quite entertaining to read about the failures of inbreeding. We get to pay the price for their bickering.
