If you have a dog you pick up its poop. Simple. I live in a great place with ample beaches, bike paths, and hiking trails. I can't walk anywhere without having to worry about stepping in shit. It infuriates me that people have so little respect for such a beautiful pkace and the people who live there. What is even more infuriating is when people bag it up, tie it off and then leave it on the sidewalk/bike path/trail for someone else to clean up after it has been sitting and stinking in the sun for however long. I think if there was a $500 fine here for littering that would really clean this place up. Also, the fine should be doubled on your second offense and on the third offense, your dog should be confiscated if you having said dog contributes to unnecessary filth in your community.

its unfortunate, but people who refuse to pick up after their dog, tend to be resistant to reasonable requests that they do so.  but you are right, its not the dog's fault.  i've actually been in a situation where even picking up all the dog shit with a shovel and flinging it on the owner's doorstep failed to get the message across. these people let their fucking mutt roam free through the streets, and it attacked my cat on my front porch.  told the guy i would kill his fucking dog next time i saw it roaming.  it was shitting in my yard the next week, so it got a 7-iron in the ribs.  that was the last time i had a problem, so now, my instincts tell me to go straight to the last step and skip all the polite asking
