hummingbirds

right outside my door a hummingbird made her nest, she was hard to see at first...mainly catch her by seeing a shadow on the ground....well she made a nest.....and sat...........then one day a friend and i looked out and saw babies...except they looked and were the size of furry caterpillars.......so tiny...over the next few weeks they grew very fast into little hummingbirds.......i could reach out and touch them if i wanted......so today i looked at them...two birds stuffed into a tiny little nest..with 2 long beaks poking out....when it rains or hails they seem to point their beaks straight up in the air.......but there they were...and mom came along and hovered a foot in front of me....the moment was delicious.....the babies slithered their snake like tongues out..as if practicing to eat/lick nectar.......i hope to see them fly before we move...

Gary Busey says, that NASA has documented proof that hummingbirds can't fly. If this is true, it could represent a massive tear in the fabric of consensus reality, which could have far reaching consequences for all of us.

However, I don't care, because hummingbirds are just way cool!

she sounds like an insect when hovering...and man they can move side to side so fast.....i want to just reach out and touch her for a moment...but im sure my hand would only be where she once was

ill try and take a pic of the babies before we move

so far thay have survived the monsoon season here...including 2 nasty hail storms.....im sure nature gave mom good instuctions on how and esp where to construct her ~2 & 1/2 inch nest.

humming birds are ruthless killers... someone local watched a crow drop from the sky, they immediately thought it was the west nile virus, when they located the crow they found it was impaled by a humming bird.  they also chase each other away from the feeder.
