Half of your body weight in pounds, converted to grams is ideally what you need for your muscles to repair quickly if you work out regularly.

i.e. I weigh 160 +/- 5 lb's so I ingest 80 g's of protein daily.

Around 1/3 of your daily intake of protein should be consumed within 30-60 minutes after your workout.
Waiting longer than that doesn't do much for muscle repair.

To break it down further, you're literally ripping your muscles every time you work out.
Protein makes it so that those tears are healed in 1/2 to a 1/4 of the time compared to not ingesting anything after working out.

This is information I learned a bit over a decade ago so it might be outdated. It's worked for me wonderfully throughout my life though.

Also you guys that buy those flashy, "get big fast" protein powders really should think about switching it up.
That stuff is not so good for you for various reasons (google it as I don't remember the exact undesired effects). Biochem brand is the only powder I'll put in my body. It's organic pure whey made from grass-fed cows and whatnot :snub:. A couple bucks more but worth it IMO/IME.

there is no 30-60 minute window post workout, as long as you get in your protein by the end of the day. and 1/3 of your requirement in that window or your muscles dont do much repairing? man ths broscience you guys spew is hilarious.

Ahhh my mistake.
For some reason I was thinking that a smoothie doesn't necessarily imply vegetables and fruits, but now I realize that I was being dumb.

A trainer at the gym I go to told me that it's important to get in protein no later than one hour after a workout.

When I was comeptitively lifting my normal diet was 300 to 400 grams of protien a day spread out over 9 small meals, at 220 lbs and fats are important as well To double 680#s in the deadlift in  the 220s without drugs is pretty rare I missed nationals because I peaked 2 weeks early while in the Bahamas for my sisters wedding I woulda been good for my goal of 740# I have not lifted in a few years but probably can still rep out 500 for 5. The results don't lie.

Just curious, what was your daily caloric intake while lifting on a competitive level?

So do you have a source that debunks this "myth"? Or are you just spewing your opinions as facts?

Edit: I never said that the protein had to come in form of powder btw. You quoted my post, therefore I assume you read it completely. All I stated was that it's important to consume protein in either powder or food form within an hour of lifting.

Never really kept track but I'd guestimate it at around 4000 a day I always ate what I wanted and I also like fatty foods like Kielbassa and Pizza and lots of lamb and red meat. The biggest I got was around 240 lbs but I found that too much to cary. Plus I had a very physical job so I ate what I needed and still kept about a 7 or 8% bodyfat.

The "window" is a marketing ploy for companys to sell their protein powders.

I dont follow the window and wouldnt have made such gains if it was true. My gains have debunked that source, if you can even find one

Again, that's not was stated at all by neither myself or anyone else here.

Re-Re-Read my post to get it through your damn head dude. According to trainers as well as pretty much every body-building source on the internet, it simply states that protein is more effective to repair muscles within that window.
Not that once it's past an hour it won't work.

If you're gonna put words in my mouth, I'll spit them back at you with real sources.
Your source for information being only yourself is pretty silly, ain't it?

Idgaf about a bodybuilding website saying there's a "window" marketing their protein powders. Show me a study saying there is a 30-60 minute window for protein, post workout

If I consume a couple meals before working out, which I always do, there is no way I need to eat again within the hour as if somehow ive gone catabolic from those 1000 plus calories ive already ingested prior. Which probably havent all completely digested either

Meat actually rots in the body because it takes so long to digest. So Rap has to be right
