An earlier post asked if an Ethernet cable could drive a dedicated Wi-Fi machine such as Kindle. It cannot. One, the USB input to Kindle as well as Nexus and many other Android machines only carries a charge, and perhaps debugging information. For Android devices that accept data from USB inputs, you could try a USB <---> Ethernet cable adapter, but it won't work either. And not because it lacks drivers!

As far as I'm concerned, and I speak from valid experience here, Wi-Fi can never be "secure". If motivated, hackers will access it, sooner or later successfully.  No military leader would dare send nuclear bomb codes by Wi-Fi. Corporate CE Os opt to use a telephone instead of their wireless computers to relay sensitive information.  With respect to security, Wi-Fi was a bad idea from the get go. Unlike the coded messages sent successfully during WW II, Wi-Fi messages are encoded after, not before, they are sent. If the messages were encoded and then sent, Wi-Fi could be reliable. But Wi-Fi messages are encrypted after sending and thus fall prey to unavoidable successful interception.

Given certain other security advantages afforded by the Android OS, input could result in a unique and uniquely secure OS, but it won't work with the equipment available. Seems like this should be available soon, since routers generate Wi-Fi from Ethernet connections, and ethernet-driven PCs emit Wi-Fi in response. But the closest I can come is to package the Wi-Fi source closely with the Ethernet transceiver and wrap them tightly with foil...so I'm presently determined to invent a wifi---> Ethernet box to accomplish the task.

I was about to say that you can share your wifi connection via ethernet to other devices but i have no idea about via usb.
