I tried putting myt shrooms in honey. My experiences with fans and dessicant were total failures (and I don;t know why - but they rotted) So I tried honey.

Thge first problem was that shrooms float. I assumed that if the shrooms were in contact with the air - they were exposed to bacteria- therefore at risk.

So I bought one of those coffee presses for $7 - filled it with honey and shrooms and used the press' plunger to keep the shrooms submerged. That worked like a charm. I used the same batch of honey for about 6 month - adding and sunbtracting shrooms as they grew and I ate them. Eventually the honey turned black just around the end of 1999 - just as my cakes were spent. So, without any more shrooms to eat I drank he honey with some tea and TRIPPED MY BALLS OFF for the millenium New Years Eve.

I will always use honey. I believe they retain 100% potency that way.

No need for gas exchange, keep lids tight, yes there's a risk of contamination, make sure the rooms clean you're working in, sterilize the syringe you're using, sterilize the jar for the honey, it's simple.
