like i said, the human psyche is so complex it can't be fully explained as just 3 parts... however freud has discovered 3 distinct "general" parts, which have unique "general" motives...

there is so much more involved in decision making, primarily in the limbic system where emotions are also generated. anything you may act upon due to "gut instinct" or just because you damn well feel like it..

you didn't actually make that decision, it was actually triggered by an impulse spike, guided by a stacking-up of behavioral motives dictated in the limbic system. emotions arise and reinforcing activities trigger a spike in the associated motives. the motives stack up the intensity of a feeling/emotion which gets associated with a behavior pattern and makes you want to do it.
