Archery from the Elder Ages.
    #21172307 -

This guy is most proper in his archery skills.

He may seem a little goofy, but damn is he good.

He did a lot of research and developed his technique

based on archery in ancient times. I don't want to spoil

too much but this sets a new appreciation of archery for me.

P.S Myth-Busters were so wrong.

Review & Converse.

Yeh, I was pretty impressed with all of his skills.

Firing 3 arrows in .6 seconds, catching a arrow in mid flight and firing it back... Flipping a pop tab in the air and hitting it with a arrow.

I use to practice archery as a kid, I really did enjoy it, I got more fun out of that than I did with my bb gun.

Did you just challenge me to a game of archery?

I recently got into instinctive archery.

Lars Andersen is inspiration for me to get as good as possible. :sun:

Hah, I took your invitation and played horribly.

I think I got a 34...  It takes some time to get use to that game.

I really did try though.

Thanks, I'll practice a few more times and send you a invite to another game.

I am thinking I would like to get a simple archery bow for beginners this spring to practice around with.

I accept your challenge.

That would be cool. If you could shoot some small game with it, I would be impressed. Practice makes perfect.

General rule of thumb is 40lbs minimum to hunt with, but if you're going after small game you could kill with even 20lbs.

There's an underbrush shrub that grows here which has thick straight branches and is a very light wood.
I want to use it to make arrows for birds. I've made some shafts out of it that just need to be straightened first.

20lbs is pretty light. Be careful, don't piss anything off that you want dead.

I shoot with a 55lb recurve.
Hoping to start building my own bows in the coming years.

Ideally I'd like to get good enough to comfortably hunt wild boar with my bow and a Kukri as a sidearm.
That'll be years though.

Right now, I'm more focused on getting good enough for turkey hunting next year so I can get a bunch of turkey feathers for fletching and some tasty bird meat.

How big is big?

Mine is 62".
I'll probably start out making bows roughly the same size.
Eventually I'd like to make smaller bows that I can practice shooting while horse back riding.

Slowly coming back into my Ancestors Cossack ways.
