Whenever I use cool big fancy words people act like i'm trying to show them up or something * 1

Yeah, a lot of times when I'm talking and use like a fancy or complex word people look at me as if I'm trying to sound superior to them or something.

Why does everyone always assume the worst?

I think using big fancy words is really awesome, and a lot better than talking all blandly. Ya know?


What do you think? Do people ever look at you weird for talking all smart, or are you the one thinking to yourself "oh man, this guys just said a fancy word. he's probably a complete dick that wants to look cool"?

Or, are you good enough at life to not assume the worst?

Never feel superior or you cannot treat people equally. I like my 2 best friends because out of all my friends they're the only people I know that are also very articulate and cultured, so I can actually have a smart conversation with them.

I often change what I would typically say so I avoid looking like a know it all. I find myself humouring people a lot of the time when they try to tell me something as well.

I did lower my vocabulary and stop using "big" words when I started high-school so that I'd fit in better.. Worst decision I've ever made in my life, I feel like I've just progressively been getting dumber ever since.
