Random act of kidness

i got home from a party tonight and was too fucked up to sit in my room so i went for a walk. i had my headphones on and was walking down the main street next to my school and i saw this drunk as hell dude walking on the same side of the road in my direction. he was all over the sidewalk. as i passed i see him looking at me and i give him the friendly head nod but i saw that he was trying to talk to me, so i took my headphones off.
he asked me if i could help him and i said "yeah, what's wrong?" so he told me he was looking for this street and i said i think its a long way away because i'm not too familiar with the area. he told me that most people would call a cab and i said yeah, you should probably do that. he didn't look like he had a phone so i offered him mine to call 411. he asked me where i should tell the cab to pick him up and i said "out in front of the big dorm building there" (pointing to it) and i gave him the name of it. i asked him if he knew how to get there and he said no so i offered to walk him there.
he was looking at me like he was so surprised i was being so kind and i just told him "no problem man". as we were walking there i told him that i was just walking around drunk and high because i didn't feel like sitting in my room so it wasn't a big deal cause i wasn't going anywhere in particular anyway. he told me that he was new to the area and he was at a party with a friend that more or less ditched him and he was totally lost. as we are walking and talking he somehow notices the street he was looking for and i'm surprised because it was only about a block or two from where i first saw him.
as he's leaving down the street to the house he is going to he is constantly thanking me and telling me that he won't forget it. i was just like "don't worry about man, just pass it on." a little more small talk and we part ways. it feels good to do something of kidness. it feels really good.

Man that is actually inspiring. I love when people do that, and I try my damnedest to do it myself. The way I look at it, it's bad karma not to help, and you never know when it could be you that needs the help. You'd be bullshit if someone didn't help you when you needed it, so help others out ...

Yea, i pretty often think of it like, would if that was me in that situation, i wouldn't wanna be ignored or whatnot. Because when you're in the situation you need help and it pisses you off when people don't give a shit about you, and then you are being hypocritical if you always expect people to be nice to you but you don't for other people. I'm a nice person

i think i'm going to be more wary of the fact that i can do something to help people. what i did last night wasn't a big deal or anything and most people would have helped out but it really made me think that i could be a nicer person in general, less selfish, etc. CF...he told me his name and i told him mine but i don't think there is any need to be friends...if i saw him somewhere i'd definately say what's up though and chill for a bit.

You know what, you did is what makes life wourth living. Careing and helping is what life is all about. I hate how stuck up people can be. Some people would see a wabbling lost drunk and just laugh and avoid him. I dont understand that.

-------------------- "A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Al Einstein
