Anyone seen Pontypool?
Wondering if it's any good.

Has anyone seen The Babadook? It's a new horror movie, and I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I haven't, but I just looked into it and it looks pretty interesting, doesn't appear to be on Netflix.

I read a glowing review of The Babadook written by W. Friedkin (director of The Exorcist), but haven't checked it out myself yet. Gotta see that one and 'Tusk'.

Guy above: I agree about Pontypool & Zombie 2, both are great watches.  If you check out Fulci's Zombie, pay attention to Fabio Frizzi's amazing score, it's a real stand out.

Tusk looked pretty bad. I haven't been very impressed with anything Kevin Smith has released in the last decade. Except maybe Red State, but even that was pretty underwhelming.

I still need to know.

FWIW, that Babadook review by Friedkin may be the result of senility or insanity. While Friedkin did make The Exorcist, he also made 'Bug', one of the all around worst movies I can recall.  So who knows.

I've never seen Bug. I've heard Babadook was good from a lot of sources though, so I'm still hopeful about it. I'll probably wind up watching Tusk eventually too.

One last post about William Friedkin. If anyone has the DVD of The Exorcist with the commentary by the director, check it out sometime, it's hilarious. Friedkin tells almost nothing about how the movie was made, and instead opts to just narrate the picture. "In this scene, Chris is walking down the street. It's very beautiful and idyllic weather out."

The best Zombie movie is Dawn of the Dead the original. Return of living dead next. After that 28 days later, dawn of the dead the remake, shaun of the dead. also check out Day of the dead and Zombieland. If you want a cheesy dubbed zombie movie where a Zombie fights a shark watch this

There are a lot of them on this list:

Thanks for the suggestions!

This one made a big controversy when it came to public. The actors made a contract with the director to not to show up for a couple of years. People really thought the actors died in the movie so they charged the director for murder, until the actors appeared to save him.

I don't know if that's the exact story regarding Cannibal Holocaust. There was a lot of controversy and debate regarding how real it is, but I hadn't heard of any homicide charges stemming from the film's release.  Some of the scenes are real footage though, including some footage of tribal brutality and animal abuse.

That art for 'The Video Dead' is pretty cool.

Cannibal Holocaust is disturbing.

My favorite horror movie has to be the silence of the lambs.

The director was accused of making a snuff movie, but he was declared innocent.

I didn't like seizure, I was all excited being Stones first movie, but I didn't like it. Strangely enough I watched video dead last week, it was okay.
Cannibal Holocaust is great. The Grindhouse blu ray has animal cruelty free version you can watch, because that poor turtle, that was horrible. At least CH has a decent the civilized people are worse message. Salo was just over the top for no reason.
I do want to see the Babadook, Starry Eyes as well.
Some more of my favorite horror flicks are Martin, Xtro, Company of wolves, Humanoids from the deep, the fog, and phantasm.
Wikipedia says re Holocaust
After its premiere in Italy, it was ordered to be seized by a local magistrate, and Deodato was arrested on obscenity charges. He was later charged with making a snuff film due to rumors that claimed some actors were killed on camera. Although Deodato was later cleared, the film was banned in Italy, Australia, and several other countries due to its portrayal of graphic brutality, sexual assault, and genuine violence toward animals

I have. It's actually pretty good. I wouldn't really go into expecting a zombie movie though. It sorta is but it's nothing like you expect when you think "zombie movie".

Psycho.  First horror flick I ever watched, and I was about 8.  Showering was intense for a few weeks after.
